Ocular Migraines

Has anyone developed these as they got older? I am over 50 now and have found within the last year that I am getting them more and more often and my right eye is sore. I am worried enough to have booked an optician's appointment for tomorrow.

I am sixty and started this year. Do get it checked, but apparently it can be just one of those things.

I get a couple a year if that but definitely seen an increase in volume since I hit 40.

I was told by gp to go back if anything new for me happened when I mentioned the increase in frequency but I think they can change as hormones change.

May also be useful to work out what you were doing when it started. Sun lIght triggers mine but generally in the second half of my cycle. Throw in a bit of anxiety and you've got yourself a vomit filled flashing light pounding party!

ooh I had these (not as I got older though; they've stopped thank goodness). Was back and forth between optician and GP. Finally got prescribed beta blockers and that worked. Ruddy awful though.

Mine developed when I was 50-it's definitely worth getting it checked as you've said, but apparently, it can also just be one of those things as PP have said.

I wish it was "just one of those things" to suddenly develop an incredible metabolism too Sad- it is always something you could quite do without, damn it all Angry

I went to the optician today and apparently in my right eye I have a epiretinal membrane which is not good. Nothing to do with the ocular migraines though apparently. Not good. Sad

I’d recommend you get your BP and cholesterol checked too, just in case it’s another type of visual disturbance.
