Do you go to the cinema on your own?

Currently sitting in the cinema watching 'The Hustle', I love going on a weekday on my own! A few times I've actually had the cinema to myselfGrin

Does anyone else go on their own? My boyfriend thinks it's really odd.

For the record, I also eat at restaurants on my own too.

Never the cinema but always restaurants when i was away for work (frequently).

Overheard a couple on another table talk about me one night, assuming that I’d been ‘stood up’ as I was all alone 😂. Funniest was I could hear their conversation- they were old boyfriend/girlfriend, now married to others, but planning to meet up in the bedroom!

Yes. Don't usually have anyone to go with.

If you have a Picturehouse cinema nearby, buy a membership and take advantage of a discount on a coffee and cake or glass of wine as well. If you're going to go to the pics by yourself, you need to turn it into a proper occasion with comfy seats and nice snacks. It's even nicer f you can sneak off during the day.

Yes have done not for a while but was thinking of seeing Rocketman on my day off while dd is at school Wink

Yes! And every time I've had a lovely time!

It's like a little secret treat all for me

This gets asked so often here. Yes I do. If anyone notices, you are a one-second wonder,

I don't go to the cinema half as much as I'd like so this has inspired me! Basically DH and I can't ever agree on what to see and if I'm going with a friend I'd much rather be chatting and catching up with them for longer. Going alone is such a good idea.

BagofTeeth · 15/05/2019 18:32

I hate people trying to speak to me during a movie, going alone is great as I just want to watch the movie and DH isn't interested in most of the ones I want to see. I also eat out alone, have gone to a pub alone (not always for alcohol, beer garden on a nice day with a cold juice is lovely!), comedy shows and concerts of all types alone, museums/events etc. and often go on other random days out alone (and holidayed alone before meeting DH.) You get the idea.

We're happily married, 2 kids, 2 dogs and it's absolute bliss to go do all these things alone when I get the chance. We do loads of things as a couple and as a family too so it's a perfect balance of everything for me. If anyone has noticed then they haven't said anything to me so I really don't care.

DH has a Cineworld card & goes at least once a week. He's a huge film buff. When he suggests going to the cinema as a nice date night, I know it's not because he wants to snuggle / snog in the dark but because there's a film he thinks I'd like or that Mark Kermode recommended. GrinWhich is quite sweet really...

Yes, it’s my absolute favourite.
Quite often I’m the only person there so it’s like a private screening.
The last time I went in the evening it was awful, full to capacity and everyone looking at their phones. I don’t care if people think I’m odd
