STAY AWAY FROM SUPERSAVINGZ.COM!

Also operates under Gadget Saving Shop and DIRECTSAVE.STORE

I bought an item from supersavingz.com via their promotional page on Instagram.
I bought a 'free' moon lamp night light and stand - pay $4.95 for postage. All fine, it was a novel item, DD would like it in her room.

I review the confirmation email a few hours later and there is a $40 charge for a VIP membership to their company.

There was no mention of a membership, nor mention of an annual charge to be deducted from my account at the time of buying this item. There was nothing on the final review payment page either. i consented to $4.95 at the time of paying - I saw that figure, reviewed the sale, double checked my address was correct, the usual. All was as it should be.

The CONFIRMATION EMAIL had terms and conditions stating that by buying their item from their site, I had opted in for a membership at $40.
They also state that by contacting customer services via phone or email, I can cancel at any time. I'm on the 3rd email threatening legal action if they do not refund me the full amount. They keep offering me partial refunds.

I have since looked on TrustPilot and every single post echoes my own. The company lies by omission, uses deceitful tactics to hold onto customers money. Each customer has said they have bought a item from their store, whether it be promotional or otherwise, no one has seen a charge on the review payment page, nor has a membership been mentioned, nor has anyone consented to more money other than for what they are buying UNTIL their confirmation page comes through, OR their credit card company has alerted them of the immediate payment.

All have said that they've been offered partial refunds. Some have threatened legal action and their money has begrudgingly been given back.

Shoddy, Sneaky company.

Please stay away, please spread the word.

I am bumping.

I wouldn't touch a company with a name like that with a barge pole.

DontCallMeShitley · 15/05/2019 12:56

You mention $ in your post, where is this company based, sounds like China?

TanselleTooTall · 15/05/2019 13:00

America.

However, there is also a UK address where all three business names are linked to. It's very confusing.

Well I did buy from them. Confused
As have many others.

I think I will call Trading Standards for their advice.

Also, all three company names are used interchangeably. I bought an item through one name, the confirmation email came under the header of a different company name. My payment is under Directsave.store

A dodgy website name... through Instagram? Confused

I can't believe anyone would put their card details into a scam like that!

TheInvestigator · 15/05/2019 13:11

I'd never buy from a site with any name like that, at the very least I would Google them first but it's so clearly a scam site.

TheInvestigator · 15/05/2019 13:13

But maybe store names like that are more common in the US? In the UK, anything like that is normally an instant "scam" alarm.

TanselleTooTall · 15/05/2019 13:22

The instagram page was not Supersavingz.com.

All three names are used interchangeably. The email correspondence is currently through 'supersavingz.com' which is why I began this post with that name because I had just got off from the computer emailing them.

I have bought items via promotional links on Instagram, and up until now I haven't had cause for concern.

Previous purchases have been a natural hair subscription package, a monthly t-shirt subscription package for DS, FaceTheory skincare promotional items, and a couple of others.

This wasn't any different to the above.

This has been the first time I have ever been caught out with anything like this. The transaction presented itself as normal.

I am posting to alert others. The more I am looking into this, the more I am finding out some sneaky shady tactics were used to trick customers out of their money.

  • sorry, meaning that 'supersavingz ' was foremost in my mind. But this also applies to Gadget Saving Shop.

This type of web store (not just found on social media) is the type of store and products that is great for students on a budget and similar. They have novel, weird little bits and bobs, kawaii items, cool little tech gadgets, stationary organisers etc that you'd sometimes see on ebay with overseas sellers for example. That kind of stuff.

I have warned my brother and sister, both away at University to keep well away and to tell their friends should they come across the site.

You can't go direct to TS anymore, unfortunately. And as you've discovered, reviews are only useful if you read in advance.

All you can do is advise friends and family, as you've done.

Bezalelle · 15/05/2019 14:39

Caveat emptor!

Sounds dodgy as eff just from the "z" in the name.

TanselleTooTall · 15/05/2019 15:22

Doesn't it just.

Shame the transaction was under 'Gadget Saving Shop' in the first place. That doesn't sound nearly as half as bad, does it Bezalelle ?
