Cows Milk

spender1664 · 14/05/2019 22:30

Hi there, I’m a Dad and trying to find an alternative baby milk for my daughter. She has a severe eczema reaction to cows milk and eggs. I hope someone knows of a formula we can buy without any cows milk or cows milk protein. If you can help please contact me in here. Thanks

I would ask your gp or a dietician for advice if it's formula milk for a small baby. Also, some of the dairy free formulas are very expensive to buy, but can be given on prescription.

spender1664 · 14/05/2019 23:01

@firemanking thanks I tried both those but they had traces in them.

@NannyR she is 7 months old and we have seen a lot of people most prescribe formula saying there is nothing in it but there always is or they suggest a body cream and she is allergic to it

You need to get some specialist advice from a dietician or a doctor. Keep a diary of symptoms and ask for a trial on new milk. Neocate would probably be suitable but they may give you nutramigen to try before that. It costs loads per tin though so really needs to be prescribed. Hope you find something that helps.

One of mine had eczema and did very well on goats milk formula, i cant remember the name of it now but I’m sure it’s still available.

I think you can get/buy human milk. Would that be an option?

MumUnderTheMoon · 14/05/2019 23:16

Have you started weaning? If you have started what about giving her soy milk along with purées? You could get vitamin drops. I know it may not be the most popular idea but if the choice is between formula milk that makes her unwell and soy milk that doesn't it might work? Other than that you could go to the gp and have her checked for other allergies as well.

Nannycare is goatsmilk formula.

Go to your gp or if she's old enough, almond/soya/coconut milk

yermawyabas · 14/05/2019 23:23

Neocate is the complete dairy free formula

CMPA baby here. Also soya intolerant, lots of cross sensitivity between CMP and soya so if you haven't already cut this out then do so for at least two weeks. If after reintroduction she reacts then cut this out too. My son reacted to nutrimigen due to the soya and the Drs would not prescribe neocate due to high refusal rate of taste (son was 12m by this point).
As all else has failed we have been advised by the consultant and dietician to continue with oatly barista milk (highest fat content and fortified) ensuring he gets at least 300mls per day for calcium intake and this is supplemented with vitamin drops.
This really is not ideal as it isn't nutritionally complete but it is the best option we have, however he is weaned so your daughter's situation may require different alternatives.
Don't use goats milk as it has similar proteins and she will react. If you aren't satisfied with the advice you've received so far please go back and pester again. Good luck x

My DD couldn't have any dairy and was prescribed puramino - they all have cows milk protein in it but it's been broken down by varying levels - the neocate / puramino is the most broken down one I think. It tastes awful though.
Some children are ok on sheep or goats milk but I never tried it. She was bf though so I cut out all dairy instead.
Is wysoy (soya based) an option? You can buy it in boots and that might be an answer. I agree with all the suggestions from everyone else though, you need the GP to support you and refer for testing and dietician advice. If she's reacting she will be IGE and they can test for other allergens and support you with weaning / milk ladder etc.

Thanks everyone that’s great feedback/suggestions I will check them and keep you updated with her progress
