Can I do anything for this baby bird?

Just rescued a baby bird from the neighbours cat. It’s still alive but very young (still has fluff as well as feathers) Can’t find any blood or injuries but it must be in shock. Neighbour has taken the cat indoors and I’ve brought the bird to my garden in a shoebox. I know they don’t often survive, but does anyone have any bird wisdom that might bring about a miraculous cure/reunite with its parents?

I do voluntary work for a local wild life rescue and I’m afraid that baby birds rarely survive, even when the experts there take such good care of them
Sadly there are very few rescue alike that around who would take it but you could try and find one. RSPCA and RSPB won’t be able to help
Try and put it somewhere safe overnight and you will probably find it dies
Sorry

If you put the baby outside somewhere safe the mum might come and look for it? But if it’s not fledged then I doubt it will be able to get to mum.

It’s so cruel isn’t it Sad I’ll put his box up high as there are a lot of tall trees his parents might be in. I don’t think it’s fledged - it was stretching its wings out but didn’t seem to know what to do. Bastard cats.

My friend had a similar situation last week. She fed it meal worms and sat out in the garden with it, parent birds came and fed it and flew off with it.

Pananny that’s so lovely of your friend! I have no meal worms unfortunately but I’ve put it in box up high near the trees it may have come from. It’s so tiny though - it isn’t opening its eyes very much and doesn’t seem old enough to chirp. I’m guessing it’s too young for regular bird food?

I’ve padded the box out a bit to keep it warmer. Just hope the parents can find it. Bloody nature Sad

Look up wildlife rescues close to you, and take it to one if possible.

Yes look up wildlife rescues near you. We had 3 fluffy fledglings last week that we rescued, they took them in.

I’ve found a fantastic local wildlife rescue who come out to you and try to find the nest etc. However...the poor baby bird has died. I think it was just too young and too shocked. Thank you for all the advice anyway Flowers
