Single MMR dose

After reading that there is an outbreak of measles in my area I decided to double check whether DS(10) had both doses of the MMR vaccine, he’s only had it once.

Does having just the one vaccine mean he’s not likely to be covered effectively?

2 doses are more effective and increase the response against each disease. Can you not just arrange to get the 2nd dose done?

P.s. it's normally done at 12/13 months and then at around 3y 4 months.

dementedpixie, he takes immune suppressants so can’t have any live vaccines at the moment (I’m really cross with myself for not realising sooner).

I found this:

One dose of MMR vaccine is 93% effective against measles, 78% effective against mumps, and 97% effective against rubella.

Two doses of MMR vaccine are 97% effective against measles and 88% effective against mumps.

Thank you, I’m not so worried now as it seems that a second dose is mainly needed to give extra protection against mumps.
