Blocking CRAZY ex-friend from...

...my meetup group.

Backstory, about a year maybe more or so ago, I met this girl at a bus stop and we got chatting (probably my first mistake) and it turns out she lived near me so silly me thought 'oh wouldn't it be nice to have a friend nearby'. So we exchanged details. I did notice from the start that she was very bolshy, but didn't think anything of it. Thought she was just a chatty, bubbly mama-bear sort.

I was wrong. Anyway, fast forward a few weeks -during which she had asked for a shit ton of inconvenient but small favors and she has got real close real fast (another red flag) -I am sitting in her living room and told her a story about something bad that had happened to me and > she victim blamed and then when I dared to say 'I see where you are coming from but I don't agree' - she screamed at me. Literally screamed 'do not argue with me, I will NOT be argued with!' Finally it clicked - she is coocoo for cocopuffs. Never seen anything like it in my life.

So I tried to separate myself from the friendship slowly. She noticed. And sent me a tirade of the most vile abuse I have ever seen via text.

Anyway it's a year later and I haven't seen her since...but I have created a meetup group and she has just asked to join it. Our first meet is up and she can see where it is going to be! I have refused her outright (do you think I should have said something to her?) and changed my group to private. I have also changed my planned events location albeit to somewhere not far away as I don't like to put those who have already subscribed, off.

Is there anything else I should be doing? My stomach is literally doing summersaults at the thought of this utter fruitcake showing up or causing me problems. And I can totally see her doing it because she is utterly unhinged.

If this is your group and your meet up that you've organised I'd just block her.

Catchingbentcoppers · 14/05/2019 12:06

Just block her.

TeaForTheWin · 14/05/2019 12:12

Yeh, have blocked. Only problem is she is going to be wondering why she has been refused entry to a group (so if she didn't know I was running it, she will now). The group emails also have your email address attached I've just realised so now she knows it. And she lives across the road from me. So what im saying is 'just block' might not be the end of it xD 'Just block' might lead to a chain of events where she is outside my house with a hatchet xD

So what? Just ignore her. If she harasses you involve the police.
You don't want this woman in your life. You don't want any contact with her. Tell her that clearly once and then disengage. Don't start or engage with the drama.

Yeah, I hope that's all there is too it. I just have a sickening feeling :/ I mean I've met my fair share of sorts over the years but she took the biscuit. I've actually been blogging on npd and the like for years so it's something I'm very aware of...but she strikes me as something...beyond. Anyway, i'll just try and put it out of my mind and hope for the best. No sense getting paranoid and letting her ruin the day.
