Please help me find an awful tattoo

A few months ago I had an iron infusion, my vein blew that it was being pumped into and my arm got stained from the iron. Hopefully pic will attach. No one I’ve spoken to has ever heard of this happening and Google suggests the only way to get rid of it is through tattoo removal. The only problem with that being that none of the clinics near me will test it out on my arm to see if it works as I don’t have a tattoo. So I’m going to get a tattoo to get removed.

Ideally I’d like something not too ridiculously awful (although I am considering getting a dodgy portrait of my dm just to wind her up) as it will have to be on for a couple of months to heal before it can be lasers. Also nothing too obscene as I have young kids and don’t think they’d approve of me getting a spunking cock and balls or similar. It looks like black is the easiest colour to remove by lasering.

OP - why don't you just a tattoo that you like to cover it & keep the tattoo?

yep so I met with the plastic surgeons and laser team and unfortunately there is nothing they can do... the area is way to big to laser and probably wouldn’t work anyways... they can only do 6mm at a time so it would years and years for mine as area so big, and plastic surgery would look worse than the stain itself.

Lilham32 · 20/10/2019 07:49

Out of curiosity what country is ur sister in, I’m in Ireland and they said they have only seen 1 other case of this but of a smaller area

BoneAppleTeaa · 20/10/2019 07:53

OP I had iron injections which left the same stains, but they gradually disappeared over a couple of years. I would give it time, especially if it’s jot guaranteed to work and if you’re self conscious about it, adding a tattoo will make it more prominent?

BoneAppleTeaa · 20/10/2019 07:55

Just seen this is an older thread and what’s happening here is different to my experience, sorry. I do hope these will fade in time for you all.

ArchMemory · 20/10/2019 07:59

“It seems quite extreme. Maybe give it a year or two and see if it fades.”

I agree with this. 4 months isn’t very long really.

TuckMyWin · 20/10/2019 08:01

I had a similar stain on my hand after having my eldest son. It gradually faded- probably over the course of a year.

TuckMyWin · 20/10/2019 08:05

Sorry, should have said- same circumstances, infusion after losing a lot of blood, and it tissued. Hand blew up like the Michelin man, then bruised, and the 'bruise' took about a year to go. It has gone now though.
