What is this area like for a family summer camping holiday?

Bedgebury is doable from there for cycling
Pett Level beach just past Hastings is normal fairly deserted and wild plus great walks in the fire hills in fair light just past Hastings !
Middle farm has a pretty amazing cider and deli as well

Bedgebury has a Go Ape too I think, including a Junior one.

I live in Bexhill. The town centre is small so no really big supermarkets, but Sainsbury's should be ok for stocking up on the basics. If you need more, there's a bigger Tesco's at Ravenside on the outskirts of town (heading towards Hastings).

If you come into Bexhill, then there's a really long and wide promenade that children like to use with bikes, scooters and skates. If your children are very young then they'll like the seafront water fountains in front of the De La Warr Pavilion, and the DWP is itself is worth a look. Egerton Park is pretty good, with a playground for children and an outdoor gym that teens can use.

Nearby, the science centre at Herstmonceux, Bodiam Castle, Smugglers Caves in Hastings and Bedgebury are all great. There's also a decent crazy golf on Hastings seafront. I'd avoid Hastings sealife centre. My dd persuaded me to take her when she was little and it was very depressing, especially the poor ray swimming around on its own in a tiny little pool. If your children are young, they'd probably enjoy Treasure Island in Eastbourne.

It all sounds great, thanks.

1066 or any other locals - do you know if there are any sports activities available in the holidays for an aspiring 10 year old athlete? Between Eastbourne/Hastings/Bexhill or any leisure centres worth me ringing to check. At home there are training camps during the holidays that we will miss. Also any parkruns?

We have had poor experience with other sea life centres so will definitely give Hastings a miss.

Very relieved to have it all booked so I can stop reading campsite reviews! Thanks very much.

Hi OP,
There will be sports activities available - I teach in a primary school in Bexhill and we have flyers come through before most school holidays. I don't know how far in advance these are arranged/have to be booked. Bexhill leisure centre is pretty good for a small town so I'd give them a ring.

I think that Hastings and Eastbourne both have parkruns.

We used to go camping in a lovely little campsite just outside Bexhill. It was on a farm (think it was Cobb's Farm) and we always had a lovely time. There is a Lidl quite close by for shopping. Battle is a great day out, and the De Warr Pavilion usually had some sort of craft activity on for children. Also a great playpark behind the Bexhill Museum. Have a lovely time.
