source of funds for mortgage deposit - pls advise?

am having difficulty with mortgage provider

the funds for the potential deposit (£11K) will come from a Separation Agreement (just finalising) so legal proof of origin.

But provider says they must be in account for 6m before they can be used? also that the full divorce must be through before mortgage can be granted. Apparantly a legally witnessed letter from source of funds is not good enough.

Is it worth trying another provider do you think?

Try shopping around, banking rules have changed (and will be changing more) so you might find the regulation is the same everywhere.

I don't know about the 6m(onths? I assume) but yes, I wouldn't imagine you can provide any evidence of proof of funds if you don't actually have the funds yet!!!

Use a mortgage broker to do this sort of legwork on your behalf.

Funds are in 1 account and can be transferred to the other tomorrow.
Source of funds is a UK person and the 'reason' or transfer is the Separation agreement being signed off tomorrow.
But mort co (Santander) say not good enough?

Tell santander you will go to HSBC and see what they say. In the meantime go to HSBC and use their online mortgage approval service - they can often give you an approved mortgage within 48 hours.

Contact a broker (we used one with no fee, he got commission from our provider) nationwide are excellent and we moved our current accounts to them. A broker has access to all sorts of accounts and knows where to look.
