Tell me the best way to do Legoland Denmark

I want to take DC (9 and 12) to Legoland Denmark for a few days this August.

I want it to be NICE as they have had a shit time (whole other thread) and deserve a treat.

Please can you tell me the best ways to do this holiday, from how long to go for to where to stay and what else to do while we're there!

Budget not an issue (I mean it is a bit, but I want to treat them too as they deserve it),

Thank you

Unless you're planning to explore other parts of Denmark I would be tempted to just do a long weekend stay at one of the onsite hotels.
You can pick a themed room, cabin, camp, etc depending on your budget and the age of your children. All the information should be on their website.

If you are going to venture outside the park then look into a Be Happy Pass. It will get you discounts to other attractions. The water park at Lalandia is good.

Sorry to hear you've had a rough time lately and I hope your children enjoy the trip.

We have stayed in Lalandia - you can then visit the water dome and just walk to Legoland
3 nights is a good amount of time there

The Danish kids to back to school mid Aug so it gets slightly cheaper then

Check when the Danish school holidays are, I think the 2nd half of August they might be back at school. We stayed at Lalandia when we went last October half term, comfortable accommodation, great pool, soft play and opposite the gates of Legoland. We got some sort of "5 nights for the price of 3" deal I think as the Danish children were at school. www.lalandia.dk/en/billund

Also Lego House in Billund is great, a nice walk through a sculpture park takes you there. We got a combi ticket and got some sort of discount I think. Billund airport is right next door to legoland as well, we flew from Stansted with Ryanair.

We went at the end of August last year and it was perfect. We were able to get a three days for the price of one ticket for Legoland (bought online and had to exchange for season passes one in Legoland but straightforward) as it was end of season. The rides were quiet with short queues as Danish schools all back (it filled up a lot with day trippers on the Saturday but still not manic.)

One think I wish we had done was to leave enough time and money for the Lego House. This is a 15 minute walk away from Lego park and is amazing and has a very fun cafe. We went to the free bit which we loved but could have spent a day there if we could have afforded the tickets.

I hope you all have a fantastic time!

We stayed in Copenhagen for a few nights to see the sights, then got the train to a small city called Veilje (or something like that), which is v close to Legoland. A regular bus ran from close to the hotel to legoland and back. Then train back to Copenhagen for one final night before home. Loved that trip.

Aarhus is a nearby city that would make a good side trip.

Would also recommend Lalandia as base/ accommodation. Has its own indoor water park, café, supermarket, restaurants, bowling, climbing wall and ice-rink (and more but I can't remember). You have access to these when you book accommodation with them (some have a small charge but water park was free).

The accommodation is lodges - ours was really nice, with a lot of free space around outside and small play areas everywhere on site. V walkable to Legoland from there. When we went, staying at Lalandia and having access to all its stuff, was quite a bit cheaper than the Legoland accommodation with a lot more bang for your buck.
