Ride access (exit) pass at legoland - requirements?

I'm taking a child with autism to legoland and getting very confused about whether she is eligible for a ride access pass - has anyone done this before who can help please? Before you tell me how not to bother, I've been loads of times before so I know how hideous it is Grin

Website states you need a letter from a doctor and / or DLA letter at higher rate. Child in question gets medium rate. So I'm wondering if this means she isn't entitled, or whether we can just apply with a doctor's letter? The website really isn't clear whether you need both or just one.

Any other tips on applying gratefully received! Thanks!

Can you ring and check with them? I have heard that Legoland are particularly difficult with having to prove disabilities.

Letter from the doctor or DLA letter. Go to customer relations on arrival. There's an office at the front but that's always so busy. Go to the one in lego friends land. You get a card with ten rides on it and as you go to each one, they sign it off and you can book the next one. You'll need the app for this. Everyone moans about only ten rides but honestly we've never used them all. Get there early as possible, go to back of the park and work forward, get on the most popular rides first and you won't even need the card for the first few. We have never had a problem there and their system works for us.

You just need a doctors letter saying child can’t queue.

That's really helpful, thanks. Do you know if the letter specifically has yo say the child can't queue or is one with autism diagnosis on it sufficient?

It specifically has to say child can’t queue.

If it helps, DD currently has ongoing issues with her knee and is on crutches awaiting results of an MRI. Her GP gave her a letter as she is going to Disney in September, but she took it with her to Thorpe Park (also part of Merlin) last week and had no problems at all getting a ride pass.
In fact she was told her letter alone qualified her for a carer pass if she took an annual Merlin ticket.

CarolDanvers · 12/05/2019 11:51

Oh yes I forgot, you'll get a carer pass so won't have to pay.

I went last year with DC who both have ASD and I supplied a gp letter for both that stated that they find queuing difficult. I was set up with the q-bot app thing on my phone for free so I could book them in for rides and then go off and do something else (like a quiet ride) while the timer counted down. When the time got close, we went to the exit gate and were let on as though we'd been in the queue. We were also allowed to book one ride as an instant access for free but the queuing system for that specific ride was terrible and just fed us into the main queue which defeated the object.

Thanks very much everyone for your replies. Didn't realise I could get in free too! I'll look into the doctor's letter.

DLA letter won't be enough. Dd2 got DLA but wouldn't have been eligible-in her case it was a missing hand, which clearly doesn't effect her ability to queue.

Random bit of info but there is a sensory room if it starts to get a bit too much
