Could this be an allergic reaction? Pics attached.

DD has a few allergies which have resulted in hives in the past. We are just home from a walk where she was rolling down hills and playing in the grass. We had been home for about an hour when she started complaining of her skin feeling very itchy. She has a rash which at first I thought was just skin irritation from her rolling on the grass but there is a small amount on her tummy which should have been covered by her dress. Although, some grass could have sort of travelled up the dress I suppose. This clearly isn't hives but I've given her some piriton just to be on the safe side. I'm just feeling a little worried because some of her previous reactions have been quite severe. Any advice greatly appreciated.

I can't tell from the pics, but with any contact allergy from pollens etc I'd start by putting her in the shower to remove any allergens from her skin and hair.

We showered her before putting her to bed so hopefully that will help. We didn't wash her hair though? We were late getting home and she was tired so there wasn't much time. I'll check on her a few times this evening. Do you think it's worth a visit to the GP?

Get a pharmacist to take a look. Could be an allergic reaction which piriton should take care of. Pharmacist can advise once they’ve seen it. ANY trouble breathing straight to A&E

My dd gets reactions to things, agree with the shower and wash her hair and I just give her 1 double dose of pirton, I told GP this and she said it would be fine and it does seem to do the trick

One of mine got a similar rash after playing/rolling around on a beach. We assumed he had been bitten by something, but in reality I guess it could have been a number of things. It started on his back and quickly travelled up to his neck and down to his legs. We gave piriton and it gradually faded after 48 hours. He has heyfever, but that's his only known allergy.

I would say keep an eye on her, if it gets worse or she develops other symptoms, or doesn't get better within a couple of days then see your GP.

My DD has severe allergies so I have some experience. Are there any other symptoms or is it just skin rash. Have you given antihistamines. There are lots of different types of antihistamines and different types are better for different types of reactions. A skin reaction should respond well to an antihistamine. But keep an eye for other symptoms.

Looks a little like keratosis pillarus but not 100% so wouldnt like to say that is what it is. Google it and compare the pics.
Its were the old skin isnt shedding efficently meaning you can get a raised bumpy rash thats red. Really common on upper arms, elbows and knees and very harmless.

BUT....see a pharmacist tomorrow...to be sure.

Thanks all. The piriton seemed to work last night 👍🏻 which does mean there's nothing to show the pharmacist. I think I'll just hold off for now and see if it happens again & take it from there. Thanks again.
