Contesting will - likelihood of winning?

Hi,
My DH has never known who his real dad is for sure. His mum was married to a man decades ago but she told him that my DH wasn’t his and was actually the son of a man she’d had an affair with. He was forced to pay child support for DH though regardless of paternity questions though they divorced and DH was only a few months old when he last saw his ‘father’.

Anyway, my MIL has since admitted that my DH is probably her ex husband’s son but cannot be sure and no DNA test was ever conducted.

We found out about a two years ago that my DH’s ‘father’ had died. His estate was left entirely to his second wife and their two kids who may or may not be DH’s half siblings.

My DH and MIL want to know if it would be possible to contest the will of his ‘father’ so he can have a share of the money. Even though it’s not certain that he was his father and even though they were never in contact.

How likely is it that he would win a will contest?

Are you serious?? So this man who is not your DHs father and was forced to pay for him anyway by DHs mother is to be fleeced again in death. You DH is bad but his mum is a piece of work!

Why on earth does your DH want to take money off the children if this man who was not his father and he hasn’t seen since a few months old?????

I am not a lawyer but I wouldn't have thought he would have a snowball's chance in hell of winning.

Presumably your DH could have pursued paternity tests & a relationship a number of years ago if he'd wanted.
