Are all units in a prison secure?

Or are there special 'secure' units?

Surely it's all secure? Are some more so than others?

It depends on the prison. Cat D prisons aren't 'secure' at all in the sense you mean.

In respect of other prisons, some prisoners will be held more securely than others - if they're considered a high risk to themselves or others for eg, they might be kept in their cell most of the day or checked more frequently.

Secure units are more usually in hospitals, holding dangerous prisoners with mental health conditions.

Less secure than they were because of Chris Grayling.

Yes there's special secure units, which are in effect a very very secure prison within a very secure prison.

Usually for holding terrorists or similar with measures in place to prevent any method of escape, including by helicopter.

Secure units are more usually in hospitals, holding dangerous prisoners with mental health conditions.

If someone is in a mental health secure unit, they are a patient and not a prisoner. Some will be from the criminal justice system but many will not, and they're detained under the Mental Health Act, not under any criminal sanction.

The crossover between the two systems is complex, but for the time that they are in a secure mental health unit people are patients, not prisoners.
