Happens to me every spring, what am I doing wrong? Why do mine pretty much always end up bitter tasting? I even peeled the little buggers today. Boiled in salt water, was going to make a lovely french potato salad.
Bitter.
Chucked four little bags. After I peeled & boiled them. I'm normally a great decent potato cook dammit! Sad Angry

I'm in Northern Ireland, can't wait for the local Comber spuds.

DrFoxtrot · 08/05/2019 00:12

All potatoes taste like soil Envy

PickAChew · 08/05/2019 00:15

If they're earthy tasting, they're probably not very fresh.

I find Jersey Royals disappointing, most years. Give me a good old maris Peer, or whatever M&S have for their Season's gold, at the moment because that's delicious (when the whole bag hasn't gone black.)

Totally missing the point of the thread, but I so miss Jersey royals, I've never seen them here in Ireland

I now want a plate of diddy new potatoes boiled in their skins, with a blob of salty butter.

Bollocks.

DramaAlpaca · 08/05/2019 01:18

So do I Incy Sad

IncyWincyGrownUp · 08/05/2019 01:19

I think a slice of baked ham and a bit of salad would round it all off nicely too.

I may have to shop tomorrow.

ShatnersWig · 08/05/2019 08:01

I never thought they were up to much years ago, haven't bought them in probably 15 years or more.

NoParticularPattern · 08/05/2019 08:03

I’ve not had any yet but I only ever do my usual of “stick them in a pan of water to boil then cover in butter”. I prefer Charlotte salad potatoes though as they’re cheaper and I think the taste is equally as good

I had some lovely ones from M&S the other day. I find the baby ones are nicer than the standard size.
