Glass Splashback

Having a reinstall of kitchen done.

Finalized the plans. Having a laminate as a worktop and a gas hob.

Looking at various options of splashback currently.

Glass is what I am leaning on.
However, not sure if a toughened glass is fine when used behind an open flame gas hob.
Cannot keep more than 55m between gas hob and the splashback, which is the recommendation of the gas hob company.

Are there any limitation/recommendation when using glass splashback ?
Do not want it to crack.

We have glass behind gas hob and has been fine and we cook a lot....really like it so easy to clean!

Thank you very much averythinline.

This is encouranging.

Do you mind if you can help me understand if it is toughened or not? And what is the distance of the gas hob from the splashback.

Also, any specific company you ordered from ? Thanks.

It's amazing - I'm so pleased with mine. It's easy to clean and looks great.
It's from Profile Glass .

I have glass. I love it, so much easier to clean than tiles. I had it made to match my cupboards from a local company. Can’t remember how I found them, probably just Googled glass

Excuse mess, haven’t cleaned up today!

When I lived with ex, we had a gas hob and a glass splashback, as part of a kitchen fitted by B&Q. It was fine, easy to clean and didn't mark. No damage from heat/hob, even though the glass was only about 10cm from the back edge of the hob.

My dad owns a glass company and part of that is splashbacks , it depends why you want it , they are easier to clean than tiles , please choose wisely colour wise as they can show up very different with light but any decent salesman will tell you this and show you samples reccomend etc Smile

I got ours from local glass merchant - they did specific ones for spalshbacks is about 5cm i guess from back... I went for white and he was very cear that that colour maybe slightly greener than 'brilliant' white but that was fine as i knew it wouldnt match exactly - but is better than hoped..
I originally wanted antiqued mirror and that was a lot more as specialist job...eg 150 vs 1500 cant rememebr exact numbers..
would advise getting local firm as easier to deal with any problems

We have yellow behind our oven much like Shoelady has (gorgeous kitchen btw Smile). Cleans up easily. Ours is probably about 5cm away from the back hob itself.

Much like Shoe I really, really wish we had gone with the same on walls above surfaces as we didn't to save £ DH is a tight git. Regret it now but toying with the idea of having plain glass put on instead or some sort of transparent lion (if such a thing exists).
