Help with a crueset pot

Mollypolly2610 · 06/05/2019 23:44

Slow cooked a brisket in my pot yesterday and it now has a dark ring marked inside. I’ve googled and tried bicarbonate of soda and it’s still not gone Any ideas on how to shift this mark?

An overnight soak in Biotex can often work wonders.

Dillyson · 06/05/2019 23:47

I soak mine in diluted Milton overnight when they get stained. It seems to do the trick.

Dishwasher tablet overnight.

If you can find it (it's not in every supermarket, but I found it in Sainsbury's) try Fairy Power Spray.
Morrison also do good own-brand dupe.

Failing the above (and better for the environment) is a paste of sodium bicarbonate scrubbed on, left for a bit and then scrubbed off.

Or just a Brillo pad.

Le Creuset things are lovely and can take a bit of vigorous cleaning.

LaMarschallin · 07/05/2019 00:02

Sorry.

Should have RTFOP, let alone RTFT.

However sodium bicarbonate can do great things. Make a paste of it with water, plaster it over the stain and leave it for a few hours.
Then scrub like a good 'un.

Mollypolly2610 · 07/05/2019 20:46

Thanks all! Made a bicarbonate paste and although it’s not perfect it’s much better!

Excellent! Glad it helped Smile

CheesePuffTheMagicDragon · 08/05/2019 10:03

Pink stuff or barkeepers friend work really well for those marks!

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 08/05/2019 10:07

I boil up some baking soda in
It and leave to cool. Everything comes out.

I have seen Bar Keeper’s Friend recommended but it’s t it abrasive?

whyohwhyowhydididoit · 08/05/2019 10:29

I came on to suggest similar remedies to others on here. One that hasn’t been mentioned is oven cleaner. I use Oven Pride, brush itmon with a silicone pastry brush and then leave for as long as it takes. It will leave it looking like new.

That being said, I’ve given up on keeping the insides of my LC stain free. It could take over my life if I let it. As long as it’s clean and smooth inside i have accepted discolouration as a part of my cooking life.

ThanksItHasPockets · 08/05/2019 11:04

You can also simmer a solution of biological washing powder to remove marks.

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 08/05/2019 11:07

Agree with why, provided a good clean has removed all but a smooth stain I just leave mine. Often the next cooking you do seems to remove a stubborn mark and once it's washed it's miraculously clean again.

Sorry off topic but when you're skimming down the Active thread list, my eyes play a trick and this one reads to me as "help with the cruellest pot" Smile

CheesePuffTheMagicDragon · 08/05/2019 17:57

I think it is abrasive, but I've been using it for three years (not all the time, just on tough stains) and my pans look good as new Smile I guess just don't scrub too hard! I use it with a cotton cloth, so it's quite soft

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 08/05/2019 17:58

Thanks, I know it’s recommended by many.

Fredscheesethins · 08/05/2019 17:59

Biological washing powder works on mine. They are 25 years old now. Technically you can also buy Le Creuset cleaner.

FlibbertyGiblets · 08/05/2019 18:03

Has anyone had their crueset re-enamelled? In fact does such a thing exist? Mine (ancient, like thirty years ancient) is getting a bit lot of a pitted interior.

Fredscheesethins · 08/05/2019 20:05

You may be able to claim under their "lifetime of the owner" guarantee, de0endingnon why it needs to be re-enamelled. I'm not sure where I would find proof of purchase from all those years ago though. I miscounted, some of our casseroles are 30 tears old.

Fredscheesethins · 08/05/2019 20:05

Apologies for typos! You should get the gist.

rotrue · 08/05/2019 20:16

When I wanted it clean biological washing powder, now I accept it as part just a bit of patina. I do love mine...

Mollypolly2610 · 08/05/2019 23:03

Thanks for all these tips but will try not to mark it again i love it to look pristine!!
