do you wash them down the sink ?

I don't because I think they may cause a blockage .But emptying the cafetiere is so messy and I get grounds everywhere .

I'm doing something wrong .

I have a small sieve in the sink lined with kitchen paper, and slosh them in there through the day

I hurl the t-bags in on top too, then into the bin when it's no longer dripping

round slug sensitive plants and in planters under roses and other shrubs.

How do you rinse the used grounds? Do you then sieve them?

Leave it ten mins and I find it sort of hardens a bit and then I bin it using a clever utensil from Lakeland

Throw them either in the garden on the beds (depending on how messy they are and how badly the garden needs it), or into the compost bin (although that is quite full at the moment).

The clay-ey soil in the back has slowly improved and become more workable over the years, with the addition of a LOT of coffee and a fair amount of compost made from veg peelings and teabags etc.

Do you have a garden? Coffee grounds are amazingly effective slug repellers. You just sprinkle them tour the base of the plant. We're using them on our vegetable patch and it's awesome!

oh do post ,there's an equal mix of complete novices and experts .And some in between .

And if you post a pic of a plant and ask for ID the speed of the response is awesome Grin

@Absentmindedwoman I don't think there's any need to rinse used coffee grounds ,I think the explanation was just that used coffee grounds while good for soil structure and nitrogen content ( I dont understand that last bit ) don't alter ph levels .
