BBC posted this pic of the royal family tree. How come Eugine and Beatrice are Princesses but their cousins of same generation are Lady and Viscount?

Why are Andrews daughters princesses, by Edwards are not?

I've just read an article on the DM which agrees with EdWinchester's summary of the situation but worded slightly differently (they said Edward and Sophie decided not to use the titles of Princess and Prince for their children and the Queen agreed). I still think Ed nailed it, though.

The chance of a title only passes down the male line so Zara and Peter wouldn't get one automatically and Anne turned down the Queen's offer of a title for her children.

that makes Charles sound a bit of a dick.

I think that he did it due to pressure.

But Andrew insisted that his DDs where princesses

I suppose it must be hard to be one of the main players and then see your own children become more peripheral. Well, I don't know if 'hard' is the right word. Odd. Perhaps. When I was growing up, the main royals were Fergie and Andrew, Edward, Charles and Diana, and now, Edward's children, you wouldn't recognised them if they played your child in a chess tournament or something. Which is what Edward wants I know, but still, I 'm not even that old and in the first half of my life the main players have become candidates for trimming.

I think Lady L Louise is quite recognisable. She's been on tv quite a lot at royal occasion s. Not her brother though.

Andrew insisted his girls were princesses, as with that title they get extra benefits than other titles. It was seen as very grabby as generally it's used by children of those directly in line to the throne. Not the spare.

This isn't true. His daughters were always going to be daughters automatically, he did not have to insist. Everyone assumed they would be princesses as granddaughters of the monarch in the male line.

James & Louise are also prince and princess, and they are automatically that. But they were born in a different generation when streamlining the royal family had become a thing, so they're styled as children of an Earl. They are still a prince and princess though.

Daughters were always going to be princesses automatically, that should say.
