Sorry I know this is chat but just here for the traffic 😉

My 13 month old is just starting to get into properly eating, she's always just been a grazer but she's realised she needs to eat now! However will not under any circumstances let me spoon feed her, except from yoghurt!!

I am looking for some new ideas for meals that she can eat herself, as we are running out of ideas now!

Embrace the mess and give her the spoon? Grin The NHS start4life website has loads of good recipes

Whatever you're having (minus salt or too much spice).

Just let her use her hands for now, offer the spoon and show her how to use it and she'll get the hang of it soon.

Get a coverall bib to save washing.

Yeah not bothered about the mess really, let her try with a spoon but mostly she eats with her hands. I just feel like she doesn't get enough food and gets bored too quick as she doesn't get a lot in her mouth. Especially saucy things!

I do just give her what we are having but it's all so saucy so was looking for finger food ideas, that can possibly be adapted from what we eat?

Toast with all manner of toppings

Sandwiches with range of fillings

Pizza (home-made on pitta or wrap)

Veg sticks or chunks (steamed until soft)

Omelette/ Spanish omelette

Fish fingers/goujons

Chicken goujons or just chicken strips

Pasta with less or no sauce

Falafal

The Annabelle Karmel weaning books always have good ideas for finger food.

Is she underweight or does she seem hungry?

My first daughter wasnt an eater my 2nd baby is.

I've done BLW with both. Baby tends to have what I'm having minus said and spice (which I dont cook with anyway) tonight she loved a tomoto/garlicy sauce with spaghetti (I cut the spaghetti with scissors). Try to only give bread 1 time a day if that - just saying before I'm jumped on because i will do a little list. All dishes are homemade:
Macaroni cheese with brocoli or peas
Home made fish and chips (,healthy version)
Cottage pie (I give the sauce but its my preference at the mo to leave the meat off her plate)
Spat hol
Veggies etc off a roast dinner
Jacket potato - filing combinations are endless and I can mash it in hands to make as croquette like shape have done beans cheese cheese and onion tuna etc
Pitta bread, houmous and cucumber
Porridge - again can be done in oven or squashed into a croquette shape if youre wont take a spoon or pre load spoon
Fruits chopped.
Fish pie havent tried this yet but will when we have it

I also always try to serve our meals with veg like carrot sticks, broccoli, asparagus all of which are great for BLW

What sort of things are you eating?

Stir fry
Pasta
Frittata
Shepherds pie
Stew
Curry
Fajitas

We're all guys with mine, if it's saucy just pick the bits out and out on her tray.
