DS went on xbox today to play as usual with friends. When he logged on it said "Suspicious activity on account change your password". So he did. Played on it fine for an hour then we went out.

Later on today about 5pm he logged on and his XBox just totally shut down.

He then mananged to get it back on but it just froze. He reset it andcwent to log on then came up with a message that said "password and email not recognised".

He called xbox who established that he had probably been hacked.

Called the bank to take off bank account details ... bank advised £114 was pending as it was tried to be taken at 12noon today.

Microsoft deleted the bank details immediately.

So any ideas how this account has been hacked...anyone else had similar and identified how they got in????

I have never had my Xbox hacked, nor have I known anyone. It’s supposed to be impossible or almost impossible. PlayStation network was known for being insecure a few years ago.

I never put my card details on my Xbox. I buy Microsoft points in GAME. Never put card details on a gaming console, it’s just not a good idea, you can buy any game from a huge selection and in game purchases.

I would recommend you go in to a gaming forum and ask, just google top gaming forums or google Xbox hacking.

Has he ever logged in to an Xbox at a friends house using his log in details and the not removed them.?

DS had an issue when he, very stupidly, shared log in details with a friend so they could share games or something like that. The friend then bought a game and the charge came up on DHs credit card. We never save credit card details on devices for that reason.

If he gives log in details to his friends that is probably the most likely reason, xbox account hacking is normally down to emails being hacked, giving out passwords or logging into dodgy sites. Tell him not to give it out in future.

Ask the bank to be put through to the fraud dept. Get the details of the times of transactions. Xbox can trace the address of the purchaser.
Ds had his hacked - and my card - £310!! Got the money back as they could see it wasn't ds.
Who was on a bus to his dgm at the time!!

Does he tell others his login details?

If hes game sharing it's very possible that a friend has done it. Could of been by accident most likely on purpose. Remove card details and you'll be sorted. You can add them again to buy games then delete straight after.

This is exactly what happened with DS. His friend did it by 'accident', (after asking DS to buy the game for him because he had no money). Yeah right ...

I think it's highly likely a friend was involved. We use these for the XBox
www.game.co.uk/en/games/xbox-live/xbox-live-credits/?

Available at Game, Amazon, Argos, supermarkets, etc. It means we never have to put bank details on their consoles and don't place temptation in anyone's way!
