Working when children start school

I’m trying to get a job when my daughter is due to start school in September. I just wondered, if you aren’t self employed are there many people who have employers who allow them to do school drop offs and pick ups and work term time only?

Civil service jobs can be good for flexible hours and term time.

I second local authority.
But you may need to start on their terms, get a good rep then request compressed hours/pt/ etc.
I know social workers in my LA who work extra hours during term time so they can take extra days in the holidays. Without it coming off their leave allowance.

Oh and I started as a temp, 2.5 days per week. Was taken on a contract.
Then moved to another dept, higher grade. 4 short days. I established myself and requested 3 longer days. I got that and I'm happy with my days and hours. It took me until my child was 12 though!
At age 5, i did 5 days a week 830 to 230.

I think you really have to accept that you need to use before/after school care, I'm afraid. We use after school care but thankfully rarely have to use breakfast club.

For couples, one starting early the other late can work, or work pt, during holidays we used annual leave, holiday clubs, my mum took a week off, and sometimes I went in at 8am until 1, he worked 1.30-9.

It depends on the job but chances are most jobs need doing 52 weeks a year rather than 38. School hours and term time is the holy grail, you're probably better off picking one and focusing your efforts on that.

We don't use a huge number of days at holiday club, juggling between me and dh, few days with grandparents etc only leaves us with about 6 days over the year that need holiday club.

Afterschool club and holiday clubs in my case. I think term time jobs are like gold dust.

I work in a secondary school- there's a lot of admin jobs in large secondary schools. However, I need to use before school care, I am there for every pick up though.

My hourly rate is very low for the level of the job, before you factor in it being part time and not paid for the holidays.

Holidays don't always match as well, although this year I've done well and only had 4 days when my dcs were off school but I was in work. (And then 5 days when I'm off but they are in school, which is much more fun!)
