Does this sound like teething?

My 15 week old baby is drooling a lot and trying to chew his hands. Thursday he was inconsolable all day and kept refusing a feed (EBF) which isn't like him, also wouldn't nap.
Yesterday he was back to his normal self but today is another repeat if Thursday.

Does that sound like teething?

Yes.

Ashton and parsons will sort him out.

Is it normal for babies to be ok one day then crying & distressed the next age so on?

No. First teeth don’t usually come until 6 months.

Babies explore their hands extensively at this age, especially with the mouth - it’s a large part of what imprints the ‘map’ of the hands on the brain. They produce excessive saliva to wash out the impurities they put into their mouths as a result.

The fractiousness is absolutely typical of 15/16 weeks as they’re developing a greater sense of their relationship with the world and it’s scary, so they get clingy. Sleep will probably go to pot as well.

Teething is blamed way too much on the above perfectly normal developmental behaviours and babies get inappropriately dosed up on Calpol and sugar (ie ‘teething granules’).

X-post. On days like this with mine when they were going through this phase, I’d have a duvet day. Skin to skin and free access to boob in bed for a lot of the day. Gets the naps and feeds in whenever they need and gives them reassurance.

Sounds normal tbh, doubtful a 15 week old is teething (although possible but it’s a slim chance).

They begin to explore their hands around this age. If it’s teething then my 6 month old has been teething for months and still has no teeth Grin.

Mine were teething at that age.

Some babies do teethe early.

I've also found with my DS that although the teeth aren't poking through, they are still moving under the gum and causing him pain. So it's entirely plausible. So they could just be moving around, getting ready to pop up.

Ashton and Parsons is great
Bonjela is good
Dentinox do a gel too
Chewable bibs? They've got a rubber bit at the end
And you could always get one of those chewable toothbrushes - they're wonderful. Really got my DS onto teethbrushing as well.
Bickiepegs?

Calpol and Nurofen will be your friends during teething too.

The other explanation could be a mental leap? I cannot recommend the app, The Wonder Weeks, highly enough... on days where DS was super grisly but for no discernable reason, this book made it all make sense.
