Feeling overwhelmed.

I feel so meh at the moment. I have a lot going on and I'm really not sure how to manage everything. To make matters worse I have no motivation to do anything and then feel really low because I haven't achieved anything.
I think my house is getting me down a lot but I just don't know where to start in sorting it out. I'm a single parent. I work full time and it's all just rather overwhelming. I HATE being in the house because there is mess and muddle everywhere. My mood nose dives when I'm at home and lifts when I'm out if the house.
I have a long weekend to get the house sorted......it's only a little house so it should be achievable..I just don't know where to start. I could really use some advice and motivation to get me moving. I'd love to throw everything in the bin but that isn't possible.

I hear you OP. This is me, most of the time. Mess really affects my mood, but I also get overwhelmed with it. I find tackling one area to be helpful. Or I set a limit, like I'm going to put 20 things away or work for 30 mins then have a break. Then I reward myself with a cup of tea. Once you can see progress being made, it will spur you on. And actually, this is a good chance to have a declutter. Get one if those bags for life and aim to fill it over the weekend with stuff for recycling/charity shop. Once you start, you will find its eassier to be a little more ruthless. Good luck. X

I know how that feels sticky and I would LOVE to tell you there's a quick and easy way of sorting it but I'm gonna take a wild guess that you're reluctant to light a match and throw it over your shoulder while walking out the door Wink. I've actually fantasised about doing that in the past

I'm afraid the answer is to get stuck in and be ruthless! If it's a case of having too much stuff then get a bin bag or two and fill them with what you don't want. If things are suitable for the charity shop then label them and place them in one spot. Stuff to be binned/taken to the tip - label and put those in another spot. Then pick a day and take them there.

If you're not trying to get rid of things but rather everything just needs a home then start by sorting things into piles/bundles. So your clothes are one pile, dc clothes are another and so on. Then put them where they belong. Likewise toys, books, paperwork.

It'll feel like it gets worse before it gets better but you will start to see it improve!

Same situation here.
Unorganised wardrobes, one has a broken rail which crashed down today, taking all the clothes and hangers in a big jumble on the bottom.
I just pushed it all in with my foot and shut the door!

Thanks for your messages. I got out ofvthe house first thing this morning to boost my mood. Ran some errands that will ultimately help with getting things straight and grabbed myself a mega iced coffee from Costa to keep me going. The kids are on board and are sorting the lounge for me which just needs a good clean and I'm tackling the kitchen.
I'm trying to be as ruthless as possible and bin/recycle/rehome what ever I can. Half of the kitchen looks amazing.....the other half looks like it needs kim and aggie!
I think once I've done the kitchen I'm going to tackle clothes.....we all have waaaay too many and they won't all fit it our drawers. Then once I've bagged up what we don't need I'll take it down to the fabric recycling box as Tesco.

Just feels like I won't get it all done and then by the time I get round to doing it again it will be back to square 1. It's so overwhelming!
