Anyone tried it? Is it ok? I'm trying to eat less red meat so I've defrosted some turkey mince abs plan to do the same recipe as a spag Bol.

Also is it ok to reheat tomorrow for seconds if I've defrosted today??

I have that when I'm doing slimming world. It tastes ok and not as greasy as beef mince.

IhateBoswell · 01/05/2019 15:34

I've never tried it, but would have a taste of it looked and smelled good.

I'd reheat it tomorrow too if it tasted nice.

Yep, delicious! Chuck a tablespoon of carroway seeds in too, lush!

I used to use Turkey mince all the time when the kids were tiny and we tried not to eat much red meat. I tasted fine to me. Much leaner and less greasy than beef mince.

sniffysnifferson · 01/05/2019 16:10

It's lovely! And makes great meatballs too.

I'm using turkey mince for bolognese right now Smile We normally use turkey or pork mince instead of beef.

BentBaastard · 01/05/2019 16:16

Always use turkey mince.

It’s lovely.

ShagMeRiggins · 01/05/2019 16:17

It’s absolutely fine but the flavour isn’t as rich. You’ll notice a difference, and might very well like that difference.

notatwork · 01/05/2019 16:20

It does not taste like beef and you can definitely tell the difference.
I do like it though. It's a different texture and flavour, so not quite bolognese but tasty nonetheless. Enjoy!

Beachbodynowayready · 01/05/2019 16:21

We only use turkey mince.. Great with gravy and veg suet dumplings!

BroomstickOfLove · 01/05/2019 16:22

It's lovely, but doesn't benefit from a long slow cooking like red meat mince very does. I made some in a slow cooker once and the meat broke down into a sort of paste.

PlatypusPie · 01/05/2019 16:25

I use it sometimes and also for meatballs - lovely, but needs a bit more in the way of herbs and garlic IMO

Likethebattle · 01/05/2019 16:41

It’s nice on bolognese. My unadventurous dad said ‘don’t be feeding me any of that fake mince stuff or turkey’ he sat and ate turkey mince bolognese several times without realising.

greenelephantscarf · 01/05/2019 16:49

I prefer it to beef tbh.
it's much better carbon footprint wise as well

louderthan · 01/05/2019 16:53

Yep I always use it. Just add lots of herbs and a good glug of olive oil

40andfeelingit · 01/05/2019 16:59

It’s lovely, much lighter. Makes brilliant burgers as well mixed with an egg, seasoning and a grated courgette
