Anyone a member of David Lloyd?

Websites like this really annoy me. I just want to know how much a membership for any time access (not including racket sports) would cost for the year. But they never tell you, you have to give your contact details and then they'll get in touch. I don't want to talk to anyone on the bloody phone! Just gimme a price ! Grin

Anyone know? I'm in South Wales so it wouldn't be the ultra expensive London prices, I assume

Varies depending on centre.

I bloody loved my DL membership. Best year of gym membership ever. Spent so much time there and loved the outside pool.

Why is it strange to call the sales people sales consultants? @buzz

melissasummerfield · 30/04/2019 15:04

@BuzzPeakWankBobbly why is it a suprise that they are called sales consultants, its not a secret Confused

Op just go in and be blunt, say you've got 10 minutes before you need to leave and you just want prices.

The reason why you cant get prices online is because they have so many different tiers of membership and often have last minute offers if the club in question is going to miss target for the month.

hidinginthenightgarden · 30/04/2019 15:15

We pay £190 a month for 2 adults 2 kids. I think near us it is about £80 per adult. They only sell platinum memberships though which include your towels, 10% off cafe and swimming lessons.

Sorry - because on their website they call them "membership team" and make out it's all about helping you, not helping the sales team boost their "uncapped commission" by using their "persuasive skills" to hold "challenging conversations" (aka hard sell):

"We have different options available so that you can be sure you get the package that is most suited to you and your needs – whether that’s using our unrivalled facilities to help you feel good or spending time together as a family.

Our membership packages vary from club to club, but below you'll see a range of choices that are available in most (our membership team in the club will take you through these too)."

Obviously it's no skin off my nose, and I don't think DL give a shiny shit what I think of them, the cloak and dagger bit just annoys me! Grin

£72 for Portsmouth here! I used it quite a lot before being pregnant so definitely value for money!

donajimena · 30/04/2019 16:24

Wokenup its around 95 quid. I'm a member of the Village gym which is really nice and that one is around 50 (I have a student membership so pay less) I've been to David Lloyd a lot as a guest but I can't justify the price.

Jaxhog · 30/04/2019 16:27

Try and get a short trial membership first. It's the devil to get out of their contracts once you sign up. They made me give 3 months notice!

itsboiledeggsagain · 30/04/2019 18:31

Again I don't want to sounds like I love dl but I do but the 3 month notice is clearly in the T&C which are given as part of contract sign up. You sign that you have read them when you sign up.

LookImAHooman · 30/04/2019 18:41

Who in their right mind thinks those staff at gyms are there to ‘help you’ rather than sell? I don’t mean that harshly towards them (I know they do help as well!) but another one here who’s surprised anyone is shocked that their main job is to... sell to you Confused. It’s just sales. No cloak and dagger about it!

WokenUp · 30/04/2019 20:13

Ok I got quoted £160 a month for non premium, me, DH and DD.
DH nearly choked on his tea but really I think that's quite a standard price going from everyone's answers...

Of course it was on a special offer that runs out tonight Grin . I guess their April sales needed boosting!

I work out mine at the price per swim / per class / per gym workout
and its a BARGAIN for me

Sportbilly · 03/08/2020 11:43

I am thinking of joining a club in Staffordshire but have the same frustration about the secret pricing.

Guess it would be expensive for a family of 4 (awaiting their costs!), however, we would all hopefully get 50% off due to us all having Vitality healthcare cover.....is that right?

Will still be expensive I guess but if there is stuff for the kids to do, and Swimming, might make it good in the long run. I do an hour in the gym 6 days a week, but thinking about it so my missus and kids can do some stuff too.

Like the idea when the eldest is back at school my missus can go to the club, put the little one in the creche for an hour or so, and have some relaxing me time.

Assume most clubs have a sauna, steam room and hot tubs that are FOC?
