Chicken Pox

I think my 4 year old has got it (again?!).

I also have a 7 month old baby. Is she at an increased risk of complications if she catches it?

I didn’t think you could get it twice. Check with your GP.

It is possible to get it twice and those under 1 are more likely to have complications I believe (and more likely to get it again in the future). Unfortunately not much you can do as 7mo is too young for the vaccine :(

My DS had it at 5 mth old and he had less trouble then when his younger sister had it at 2.5 years.

Not sure there is rhyme or reason as to how it effects someone.

I had it at 4 months, neither me or my son (5 months) have had it again.

funinthesun19 · 29/04/2019 19:27

Neither did I but apparently you can. He’s really well in himself which is good.

My five month old had it quite severely in January but I hadn't passed any immunity on to her as I have never had chicken pox. She was well enough in herself but it ravaged her skin. Apparently they are only eligible for vaccines at 12 months. I had never heard of cellulitis and thought she was at risk but thankfully a precautionary antibiotic helped. Her three brothers also had it in January (wonderful start to the year!) but thankfully I somehow escaped.

Oh and yes apparently it is entirely possible to get it again.... just watch for cellulitis in the baby!
