Does anyone know what this might be?

Does anyone know what this might be? My son has picked it up on the beach and pricked his finger with it. I'm wondering if I should take him to the GP.

Does anyone know what this might be?

Looks like an Epi-pen - an automatic injector for adrenaline, used for anaphylaxis. Take him to GP/MIU.

Looks like some sort of medication jab. My husband has an insulin pen but I've never seen one like that.

Thanks. Have called gp and they have said a and e so we're on our way.

It seams to have a counter on the side to control how many units to administer. With insulin pens you twist the pen to control this. Also looks like a screw on disposable needle which insulin pens also have. There maybe other types of medication that are administered like this too.
Hopefully it's been washed in the sea and weathered a bit so no fluids left. Hope your wee boy is fine.

Thanks everyone. He's fine. Apparently there is no chance of infection from the other person's blood after the first few hours, and it looks quite old. He's up to date with his tetanus. I just have to look out for any infection of the puncture, which isn't likely as I squeezed it straight away to make it bleed and washed it as soon as I could.

The doctor said that it looked like an old-style insulin pen, just for the record.

The wait in a and e was under an hour, so good there too.
