I'm early twenties and struggling to find something I love I was studying psychology but I hated it. Just curious what others were doing around my age.

21-27 Software engineer, travelled a lot for work, paid well, was a good time.

Childcare. Loved it then but couldn't do it now.

Shit jobs while I was at uni. I worked in pubs, shops and the worst one ever was Greggs. Horrible job, I used to literally dread going to work every single time and it was only part time.

Was so relieved when I got a teaching post so didn’t have to waste my weekends slogging away for NMW.

Production assistant at a small badge making company. I liked the jobs but my boss was a sleaze. I realise years on that what he did to me was sexual harrassment

A&E nurse. Wouldn't choose it now!

21 to 24 - life insurance claims assessor (I believe this will be the most interesting job I ever have)
24 to 28 - financial crime at another insurer

Right from leaving school 18 years ago I worked in retail. Hated it with with a passion. Also did another equally shit job in between to get some extra money in. Quit retail 3 years ago and just carried on with my second job. Split up with my husband and walked away with nothing but my sanity. Desperately needed a full time job. Ummed and ahhed for ages about having a totally different career change and applied for a carers job totally thinking I wouldn't even get past the interview or enjoy it if I did. Well I was wrong because I got the job there and then and on my first day of shadowing I was hooked!! Totally wish I'd done it years ago. Spent years dreading going to work, making myself ill from worrying all the time. Now I actually look forward to going to work and I can't ever imagine doing anything else now

Late teens to early twenties I worked as a nursery nurse. Then went to uni and studied nursing. Graduated at 26 then worked as a nurse in the community. I now work in cardiology and love it! Nursing has so so many different opportunities. Best decision I ever made going to uni.

I was a deputy manager in a shoe shop. I quit to go to uni and worked in a pub throughout uni. Working in admin/accounts since graduating...I make less money now than I did in 2007 😩

Youngandfree · 29/04/2019 13:19

20-23 I was finishing university degree, traveling, and working several jobs (waitressing at night, pharmaceutical internship (paid) by day.

23-24 PGCE

24-34 teaching, sahm and then back to teaching

Post university joined the Civil Service as a management trainee. Worked for them for 26 years but in lots of different roles in several different departments. Retired now.

OurChristmasMiracle · 29/04/2019 14:32

I was a stay at home mum. Mid 20s I went into admin. Now an admin and finance assistant and hoping to study my AAT next year

littlemissalwaystired · 29/04/2019 14:35

Currently early twenties myself and am a midwife.

nopen · 29/04/2019 14:49

I'd graduated and was working in a call centre and a pub in the evening. This was 98-2000.

I stayed with the call centre employer for ten years after going to another department and getting promoted etc.

Speech and Language Therapist then and now. Some things I love, some things I get frustrated by, but it's never boring! The days fly past and there's a real sense of satisfaction too.
