I’ve just written a list of sorting and tidying (we are trying to sell). ... but am I shortchanging myself...?

Hoe much time doing chores would you do if weekend to your self?

0 seconds!

I would have to devote at least 2hrs-
My favourite show in the background and just crack on.

ememem84 · 28/04/2019 07:46

Whole weekend no kids? With chores that needed to be done?

I’d allocate 2 hours for the essential ones. And leave the rest.

yogima · 28/04/2019 07:46

I play the 15 minute game.
Sit down and do bugger all til I feel I can face at least one job/then 15 minutes up and do as much as I can.

Repeat all day. I feel like I've had a restful day but I can get my whole house done.

My 15 minutes sometimes extends if I'm in the zone in a room but the rule is you can sit down or do something you would rather do in between bouts of cleaning/tidying.

About 20 mins.

I can't relax in a messy house so il spend an hour running round then sit on my bum for the rest of the day!

PH03b3 · 28/04/2019 08:21

15 minute rule sounds such a good idea!!
This could be the perfect opportunity to get stuff done without kids shouting mum every 5 minutes

MintyCedric · 28/04/2019 08:25

I would try and plan to fit everything in in short bursts in the few days beforehand so I didn't have to do any!

If you've got bigger jobs to do, I'd do one each - get up by 8 at the latest, coffee, w hours cracking on, then brunch and do what I wanted for the rest of the day.

MintyCedric · 28/04/2019 08:26

2 hours and 1 job each day!

mychildrenarebarmy · 28/04/2019 08:28

Absolutely no time. I have always done it in the days or night before so I can relax and do what I want to.

BertrandRussell · 28/04/2019 08:31

Depends. If you’ve got a lot that needs doing, then one hour on one hour off works for me.

sackrifice · 28/04/2019 08:32

Who is this 'we'?
How many chores have to be done?

HopeGarden · 28/04/2019 08:39

Depends on how much needs doing really.

We’ve got lots of decluttering to do, which is difficult to get on with when kids are underfoot (especially as youngest DC is a toddler), so I’d probably spend a good few hours on decluttering and tip / charity shop runs.

Theoldwoman · 28/04/2019 12:39

As much as I could before I got sick of it. It's a good chance to get stuff done without interruption or complaint!

SheldonSaysSo · 28/04/2019 12:49

It depends if a kid free weekend is a real rarity or if you will have another one within a reasonable time. I'd probably devote an hour a day and work as quickly as possible (jobs that make the biggest difference first).

Enjoy the peace!

Hiddenaspie1973 · 28/04/2019 17:49

I often do bugger all chores....until the hour before when I run around the house doing jobs.

wendz86 · 28/04/2019 18:22

When my kids go to their dads I try and do a couple of hours of chores and then rest of time relaxing.
