Can I plant these giant sunflower seeds?

My DD has been given some giant sunflower seeds and wants to plant them in the back garden. Problem being, we have a very small garden with mainly patio and a small patch of grass. I really don't want to make a section for plants because the grass area is well used with toys etc. Can I just pop the seeds into the grass? Sorry if that's a silly question. I've never planted anything in my life 🙈

Maybe, I’m not completely sure, but you could also put them in a pot if that helps?

Personally I'd put them into some soil in a pot ( even a yogurt pot will do ) Start them off indoors on a sunny windowsill. Water regularly. Then when you have a decent sized plant ( same size as you would buy in a garden centre )
Remove a little turf from your garden and plant in there . Keep watering.

If you put them in the grass it might make mowing a bit tricky, especially on a small area. I second just putting them in pots.

‘Suggest start off in yogurt pots with a small hole in bottom, stand on a saucer. Start indoors. Then transfer the best to bucket size pots. They may need the support of a cane.

Put them in containers, They’ll need to be staked and watered a lot though.

And thanks for reminding me, I’ll plant mine today
