Tax credit confusion.

I started new hours at work beginning of april so my income will go from 8k a year to 11.5k a year.

I've been trying to work out what my tax credit entitlement will be for this year. (Have reported the change now)

I've been to Entitled to and the government website, they say that my entitlement per week will be £140. That is more than I get now.

Surely that is wrong.

Could you be getting underpaid TC at the moment? Worth doing the calculator again, in case you made a mistake before.

Worth noting, what the calculator says I should get and what I actually get is quite always different Hmm

Personally speaking, I don't find the Entitled To calculator accurate at all.

We've put our exact income details into the calculator and to tax credits. Neither are remotely similar.

Do you have a DH? Children?

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 27/04/2019 23:30

I'm a single parent to one child. I've done the calculations on previous incomes too which say I should get more than I actually do. Even the government one agreed with Entitled to. I'll find out soon when they re calculate my award.

It just seems so much money.

There’s a calc on the tax credits site which I always found accurate. It works if out based on the current financial year so you need to take the amount and divide by 48 weeks.

I’ll see if I can find it. I’ve never found Entitled To accurate either.

Ok I just googled and the one I used to use is gone replaced by three 3rd party links Confused

ImTheCaddy · 28/04/2019 07:29

I don't think that is correct. Until recently I earned around the same as you are about to, have one child and single etc and got around £100 per week.

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 28/04/2019 08:34

See Caddy, that is what I was thinking was more likely.

Do you pay for childcare ? Do your extra hours mean you now work more than 30 hrs a week ?

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 28/04/2019 16:05

No child care costs and I work 26 hours a week,

I think that sounds about right, might circumstances pretty much the same as yours, income, hours etc and I get £143 a week
