WWYD - changing opticians - advice please

OK my DS (almost 5) has been wearing glasses for less than a year. We have been going to specsavers because one of the opticians is fab with kids and the eye test is really thorough.

However, I am getting increasingly frustrated with the service / poor quality product. I feel that I am constantly being told different things. There have been lots of issues especially around fitting and repairs. For instance My son had an accident at school a month ago and I had to insist his frames were replaced as they were really badly bent. We paid another £65 to have the lenses thinned down. I noticed last week after a couple of days wear the frames were digging in and took them to be adjusted. They made a right mess of it and then started telling me the frames were too small for his face at which point i said they shouldhave brought this to my attention when I paid for new lenses 4 weeks ago.
Anyway, I queried the fit around the ears and was treated like a bit of an idiot and told 'all children's glasses are like that'.Three hours later I notice red patches around DS ears so we now need to go back again.

We have spent over £300 on replacement lenses/glasses in 9 months and while I love the optician I am beginning to wonder if I would get better service and glasses elsewhere.

Am I able to take my prescription elsewhere? Also my NHS voucher? Would I be unreasonable to have my son's eyes tested at specsavers but purchase glasses from elsewhere. My son isn't keen to go elsewhere but I am beginning to feel disgruntled and that they are just interested in selling you things.

At that age I just got dd the free frames and the voucher covered the lens price. Shop around as not all places charge for thinning either. Dd, ds and I go to a local independent optician for eye tests and glasses. You don't need to get glasses from the optician that tested you so it's perfectly fine to go to another one to buy them
