Hotel in London- travelodge or somewhere else

I’m planning to go to London for 3 nights in July with my 9 year old. Need to stay somewhere central/ close to Euston. Room has to be a wheelchair accessible room so can’t look at air B and B or similar really,
I’ve look at travelodge and is around £400 for the nights I want to go.
Am I missing a cheaper way of doing this or is this about right?

That’s about right for central London for three nights. There are premier inns nearby too which are sometimes cheaper than travelodge.

wigglypiggly · 27/04/2019 11:57

It's high season so is expensive. There are TL and PI at Euston and KingsX.

Alakazam8 · 27/04/2019 12:01

Ok thanks - wasn’t sure if I could do it cheaper somehow. Will check again with premier inn but that was more expensive last time I checked.

What dates, some are nicer than others, happy to check for you.

Alakazam8 · 27/04/2019 14:07

Thanks it’s for the 30th July to 1st August inclusive. It would be handy to know which are nicer ones as long as they are central!

We've stayed at the Euston Travelodge a couple of times and it's been fine. Surprisingly quiet too.

imsorryiasked · 27/04/2019 14:23

If you can look at hotels 2 miles from Euston (but still central London) then the price can be £100 less.

MyDcAreMarvel · 27/04/2019 14:26

Euston premier inn is better than the travelodge.

Alakazam8 · 27/04/2019 14:29

Sorry but I really want to be central for this one. If I was travelling out further it would be a longer bus ride and want to include a couple of shows so didn’t fancy that with a very tired 9 year old. Can’t always use the tube due to access at stations I understand I’ll pay more to be central but just wondered if there were other hotels that I’m missing that might save some.
Travelodge Euston does look good so will be on my shortlist

Cross post- haven’t looked at Euston premier inn so will look at that now

Covent Garden travelodge is walking distance from Matilda and School of Rock.

MyDcAreMarvel · 27/04/2019 14:54

I don’t think you will find anything cheaper in the summer than PI or Travelodge.

MyDcAreMarvel · 27/04/2019 14:54

I am a wheelchair user and have stayed at both hotels I mentioned.

wigglypiggly · 27/04/2019 15:36

I have looked at PI KingsX and Euston, don't forget kids eat free so that's a bit of a saving.www.premierinn.com/gb/en/hotels/england/greater-london/london/london-kings-cross.html?ARRdd=30&ARRmm=07&ARRyyyy=2019&NIGHTS=3&ROOMS=1&ADULT1=2&CHILD1=0&COT1=0&INTTYP1=DB&BRAND=PI

Alakazam8 · 27/04/2019 17:27

Thanks that’s absolutely brilliant, thanks for the advice. Will look more into PI now. We will def go to Matilda so that’s good to know too

I recommend the Crowne Plaza at Kings Cross, it usually works out slightly cheaper than Central London PI or and it is a much nicer hotel especially now it's refurb has been completed.

postitnot · 27/04/2019 17:46

Have you looked at the Yha? Bit basic but so much cheaper and the st pancras one is fully wheelchair accessible. We all stayed in an ensuite family room (at st pauls) and it was £70/night for 4 of us.

ninebiscuits · 27/04/2019 17:52

I stayed in a travelodge in London in July with no air con and windows that opened 2cm! Biggest mistake ever!

Alakazam8 · 27/04/2019 18:20

Not thought about YHA at all, that’s exactly the sort of ideas I was hoping for- if I can get a family room that would be perfect! Will look at crowne plaza too. Thanks for all ideas

I use a powerchair and have stayed at both the Euston and St Pancras Premier Inn’s (which are two minutes apart on foot). Both very accessible, personally thought St P was a high quality but it’s newer.

AlexandraPeppernose · 27/04/2019 19:12

We found days Inn at Waterloo much cheaper

Alakazam8 · 27/04/2019 20:00

That’s great to know thanks Doom. How was showering at those hotels?
Got loads to look at now, more research I think

The St P premier inn is the best one of the three between kx and Euston.
