We had homemade pizza with premade bases from the fridge and various toppings plus salad, £1.50 per head. Then yoghurt for pudding which will add another 50p or so each.

Have just worked out that per month a family of four would eat 360 meals for one in a 30 day month (3 meals a day times 4 people times 30 days)

So £1 average per person a meal = £360/month
£2 average per person a meal = £720/a month
£3 average per person a month = over £1K!!!

We had Bolognese (not strictly Bolognese, as it's veggie and has extra veg in, but something approaching it, I guess)

(Some figures approximate, go figure)

2 x tins tomatoes = 70p
Punnet chestnut mushrooms = 90p
1.5 peppers = 50p
Stock cube (kallo very low salt) = 20p
Dried soya mince = 50p
About half a tube of tomato puree = 20p
Couple of small onions, few cloves of garlic, herbs, black pepper, glug of soy sauce, cooking oil = probably around 20p or less

Pasta = 50p (doubled up to allow for the fact the sauce had leftovers - though the leftovers may be eaten with baked potatoes if I can be bothered) Cheese = 30p (also doubled)

£4 for two generous meals worth for 2 adults and a toddler (£2 family meal), so probably around 5 slightly less generous adult portions. Possibly 6, as it was very generous portions... Thus, 67-80p a portion.

Chicken korma (using Pataks jar sauce) with added spinach; green beans cooked with black mustard seeds, chilli and garlic; rice; poppadums.

Came to about £3.50 a head if memory serves. The green beans were kind of pricey.

Based Spanish risotto
Chicken thighs £2.50
Chorizo £1.00
Tomatoes 50p
Onion 20p
Rice 50p
Oil, garlic, rosemary, stock cubes, maybe 30p

So £5.00 for 4 portions is £1.25.
DS had half a tin of rice pudding after (double rice Hmm)

Homemade Cumberland sausage
Bacon
Egg
chips
beans

The sausage I make from scratch using pork I buy from restaurant supply house. Ive worked out it cost about $2.00 a pound to make
Bacon I cured from a MASSIVE chunk of pork belly I got for free from a mate whos man has a pig farm
Eggs $4.00 for 18 from above mentioned mate
Most expensive thing is a can of heinz beans for $3.00
So between 3 of us, $3.00 for sausage, 66c for eggs, big fat zero for bacon , about 50c for the spuds, and 3 bucks for the beans
So about $2.40 per person wish I could give up the beans but American beans suck
