Is Disney on ice any good? Any age recommendations?

Went to it at Sheffield arena. The seats were so far away from the ice we didn't see very much. TBH I found it a bit dull.

I took the dc and their friends about 7 years ago at the London O2 arena for dad 8th birthday. We had good seats in the 3rd row which I think made it a lot more enjoyable (for them) but they had a really good time.

Merchandise is expensive and it cost as much for a snow cone/programme and light up twirly thing per child as it did per ticket

Dd’s 8th birthday, not my dads! He’d been dead 10 years by then!

I took my boys and we all loved it. Have been to the Wembley arena and O2. Wembley arena was a better venue as smaller. The quality level was high. We have also done the marvel show before and am doing that again this year.

Loved it in Glasgow, kids were all 5/6 plus.

Go every year with dd to Sheffield. It's a bit naff, but dd loves it. She's 9 (in 2 weeks) and have gone since she was 5. We tend to sit quite high up but can see fine.

Expensive, so eat before! We don't buy the tat, dd is quite savvy and knows that for some sparkly crap and a bag of popcorn she can get another day out!

MyHairNeedsASnip · 26/04/2019 17:28

It's lovely! But yes, merchandise and food is so expensive. £9 for character cup with ice in and £9 for a bag of popcorn "...eat it, eat it all, you're not having any tea..."

EmpressJewel · 26/04/2019 17:33

We saw it at the O2 a few months ago. It was nicely done, but you only need to see it once!!!

the DC were 8 and 6. DS8 wasn't particularly interested but loved the fire scenes. DD6 went full out dressed up as Elsa.

We bought the children a slushie each, which was £10 each. We avoided buying the glow sticks as we bought some from home. Avoid the merchandise if you can?!!!

We went as a 'warm up' about a month before Disneyland. Managed to avoid buying tat as 'we'll buy proper gifts at Disneyland'! It was awesome. Birmingham.

We went to the o2 3 years ago and wasn’t that impressed, went back this year when dd was 6 and we all loved it (3 kids and 3 adults). The difference was the performance. The first show was 4 long sets and got a bit monotonous. This year they did bits from loads of the films so it was really quick and kept you engaged. Think 5+ best age, try to get seats as close as you can but in tiered seating so they can see.

TattiePants · 26/04/2019 17:44

I've been 4 or 5 times with the DCs when they were younger. We've always had good seats which definitely make a difference. The DCs always loved it.

Cookiedoughforbreakfast · 26/04/2019 17:47

It's veeeery cheesy and sickly sweet, but I guess that's Disney. If your kids are still that sort of age, i.e not over 9 or 10, I can't imagine them not liking it. It's definitely more for little ones though, say 2-5.

Thanks everyone Smile

Just to check it’s best to get the better seats?

It depends. I've sat rink side on the 2nd row and watched the whole thing through some Facebook mum's phone screen. I've sat higher and there was none of that.

They do wave to you if you're at the bottom though Grin
