Where should DH and I go - 4 nights childfree in June - somewhere lovely and sunny!

I’m so excited I could wee. My parents have very very kindly offered to have the DC for 4/5 nights in June so DH and I can go away for a restful break together. We’ve had a lot of heartache and I haven’t been abroad in 5 years. I want to sit and read and snooze and people watch and enjoy a daytime drink with an umbrella in it around a pool (Can you tell I’ve missed holidays!)

I want an adults only resort and somewhere that isn’t tooooo long a flight. I want a sun lounger I don’t have to fight for and maybe a room with a private pool. Spa is a bonus but not too fussed really.

All inclusive as long as I can choose more than one place to eat and somewhere that includes decent wine or local fizz (or I can pay on top for)

Be nice if it’s a resort near a town so we can prise ourselves out for a walk or drink at a local bar if we feel like it.

Am I asking for the moon on a stick? Possibly!

I only get this opportunity once so want to make the most of it! Does anyone know of anywhere that sounds like this?!

Thanks and happy Friday!

Go to the Kassandra peninsula on halkidiki, it is heaven on earth and a short flight, we went last year for a week, bought a cheap flight to Thessaloniki and then stayed in a different hotel every night just booked the day before on booking.com. One of the places Possedi made me cry as we drove round the bay, it was so absolutely perfect. At one end of the bay wAd the most beautiful cocktail bar I've ever been in and the other side had this amazing trendy beach club. God, it was just bloody perfection

Definitely Arona Gran in Tenerife. It's our favourite place.

Guylian2019 · 26/04/2019 19:16

Could you stretch for a week and go to Vegas?

Shushandpat · 26/04/2019 19:17

Actually, awks suggestion is better.

Adriana Hotel, Hvar, Croatia. Lovely. Really epic food locally, bliss.

Or lake Como or Majoré, Italy. Heaven

HoldMyGirl · 26/04/2019 19:59

I'd go to Riva, Lake Garda.

It doesn't really matter where you stay, as you can catch Ferries to all around the lake.

Choice of day trips to Milan, Venice, Verona, etc

fruitbrewhaha · 26/04/2019 20:02

For 4 days I just wouldn't go as far as greece or turkey or canaries. There are plenty of lovely places in France, Italy and Spain that you can get to in half the time.

If you pick a poplular route there will be loads of flight times to choose from too. You can fly into Milan or Nice at any time of the day, but Thessaloniki will be restrictive so you may have to fly in the afternoon to get there, and then a lunch time flight home. What you need is a morning flight out and an evening one home to maximise your time there.

Also less time difference to Italy or France, only 1 hour, instead of 2 to greece.

I.e if the earliest you can drop you DCs at DMs is 8am, you can realistically to at the airport for 9am for a 11am flight. This lands at 14:20, which is 16:20 local time. By the time you are thought the airport and at a hotel, 17:30. You've lost a day.

fruitbrewhaha · 26/04/2019 20:03

Yes, Lake Garda, would be better

Parker231 · 26/04/2019 20:07

What about Monte Carlo - loads of opportunity for people watching, short flight and plenty of places for cocktails!

CherryPavlova · 26/04/2019 20:08

Morocco?
Valencia?

DieCryHate · 26/04/2019 20:27

Ahhh OP small world about my Lisbon suggestion! Purely on my own preferences however I would definitely go for an Italian city. Venice I know doesn't have a beach but is so romantic and easy to get to. The lakes could be amazing since you're near London airports (jealous!)
