Baby will only stay in Pram for 10 minutes

My baby is 14 weeks and never been keen on his pram. I've tried everything I can think of including, putting a comfy liner in, propping him up with a wedge pillow, making sure he's not too hot or too cold. He's better than he used to be but he will still only tolerate it for 10 minutes at a time. Is there anything else I could try?

I do use a sling at times but it's not always convenient when I'm on a dog walk.

Anyone?

My DD was never keen either. She never slept jn the buggy, which was an unexpected pain! DS has always napped for hours in the buggy.
All you can do is keep trying but don't stress over it. It's not worth it. At 14 weeks it's more important to just get as much sleep as you can and survive! I used the sling a lot with DC2!

My daughter only liked her pram once she could sit up and face me. Hang in there.

Yes I agree about them liking it more when they can sit up and look around

What style of pram do you have?

Littlebees · 26/04/2019 16:25

Silver cross wave

My dd wouldn't go in. I used to arrive everywhere pushing empty peak with baby in sling. It was marginally better when u transferred her into the seat thing. And actually I didn't realise I could have put her in there from newborn so wish I'd done it sooner. Worth trying it if your pram allows it from so little?

GummyGoddess · 26/04/2019 16:31

Neither of mine liked it, dc1 is 2.5 and dc2 is 11 months and the pram had been used less than 10 times. I just use a sling and a backpack.

How is a pushchair more convenient for dog walking? I don't have dogs but my friend says that a sling is easier as she isn't juggling leads and a pushchair.

If you have the travel system, does he get on ok in the car seat attached to the pram base (rather than a bassinet)? I found in the early days, this worked better for us - he seemed more comfortable as he was more snug, on a slight incline and was more elevated so he was closer to us.

MindyStClaire · 26/04/2019 16:41

Mine was ok in the seat bit from about that point, and in retrospect she would've been from an even younger age (although she was a very big and sturdy baby). Moving to the seat was a transformation, she went from screaming every time to loving the buggy, I genuinely nearly cried with relief.

Might be worth popping him in it in the house and seeing if you think he's stable enough. I think you can buy newborn inserts too to make them a bit more snug (but we were in the middle of a heatwave so I didn't look into one).

My ds never stopped screaming about being in a pushchair or a pram. I got a Tula and used that full time when he was about 4 months until he was 3.5. We used it for shopping, day trips and dog walks. Sometimes it felt like I never put him down but he loved it and used to nap happily in the carrier where he wouldn't even in a cot for months. Saved my life! Dd used to sit in her pram and happily chatter away before falling asleep. Different things suit different babies.

Oh - and the instructions for my travel system said the carrycot should be used to six months, and the buggy seat was only suitable after that. However, the same system has the changeover at 12 weeks in the US - there must be different guidelines there or something. Just in case you're worried about moving too early, might want to google the guidelines for your pram. Flowers
