I had a phone call just now from her partner B. She had been unwell since Christmas and died of cancer in the last couple of weeks.
I never met B but he was working his way through her phone. He has given me permission to post on here.
Fru was very kind to me when ds2 was in a specialist autism unit in London. I posted asking for advice and she replied. She used to meet me at the tube station and walk to the hospital with me. She expecially enjoyed the times Bumbledog came too in his Chelsea football shirt.
She came to Discover Dogs with some other MN ladies to see ds2 show Bdog in Scrufts.
We used to meet for lunch when I was in London and the last time I saw her was about 3 years ago when we went to the Audrey Hepburn exhibition at the Portrait Gallery.
She was a very special lady....

I'm not a lunchtime drinker per se but one year on my birthday we had a very boozy lunch which started off at her local and we then made our way to another pub where we sat outside all afternoon. I then had to meet my sister and had to serve my way to the cinema....

That's very sad - she always came across as a lovely person on MN.

Oh I'm so sad to read this. I had the pleasure of meeting her once. She was an extremely gracious and graceful woman with a sparkling wit. May she rest in peace.
