One of these annoying 'GP or A&E' threads

NC for this although I don't know why because all my MN friends know who I am anyway.

Basically I had minor surgery last week - surgical management of miscarriage (I would have been 9+4 at the time although the baby died at 8 weeks).

On Wednesday I started getting these sharp chest pains when I took a breath. I had to carry the dog in from the garden and couldn't get a breath for a good 3 minutes or so.

Then yesterday all was fine so I wrote it off as one of those things.

Today the pains are back. Sharp pains when I breathe in and they move about - sometimes in the centre of my chest, sometimes to the left near the bottom
Of my ribs and round my back. It is a bit sore when I bend over too. But sometimes no pain at all. No shortness of breath today, no coughing, no leg pain. I'm fit as a fiddle otherwise.

So what to do? Wait and see the GP tomorrow? Ring OOH (who will surely send me to A&E when they hear 'chest pain'?) I don't want to waste A&E resources for a pulled muscle or something - the ED in the local hospital is stretched at the minute and sending out appeals not to attend if you're not really really ill.

Yes, how did you get on?

Sorry for your loss Flowers

You're all so lovely! OOH sent me to A&E for tests so I'm just waiting here to get bits and bobs done. Interesting night!

If you're "enjoying" hospital coffee I'm not sure you are all right! (Joke)

GiveMeAllTheGin8 · 26/04/2019 10:41

Thinking of you OP!

domton · 26/04/2019 17:35

Hope it all works out.

I just wanted to say that I spoke to my GP yesterday, and as he obviously knew I didn't want to go to A&E (I'm fine btw) he made the very good point that because the media are always describing how a&e is being misused (which he agreed with), people in genuine need that should be seen are not going, and consequently having catastrophic outcomes all because we don't want to waste their time.

I thought it was a valid point, and it was refreshing to hear this being said by a GP I thought.

I hope you're fine too xx

MrsMozartMkII · 26/04/2019 18:29

I hope you're okay lass.

bloodyskybroadband · 26/04/2019 18:59
