Only one viewing booked for our house. Normal?!

Is that usual?! It's been on the market for a week. Only one viewing is booked. I was hoping for 4-5.

There's a tenant in there, she's moving out in two weeks so we could take more pics of an empty house so perhaps that would help?

There's an open day this weekend and only one person is planning on coming so far.

We have a lovely house. Didn’t have a single - single! - viewing with a supposedly good local agent in nearly 4 months. Got rid of them, signed up with another and joined one that was part of the “Countrywide” group. Had at least 3 viewings every week thereafter, from people looking to move into the area from all over the place.
Double check which networks your agent is on: our first was on all of the online sites, Rightmove etc., but moving to a Countrywide agent that has actual shopfronts up and down the UK surprisingly made an huge difference.

They are on all the major online sites.

I'm not sure what else they could do.
They are a big company (in this area of England) as well.

Usually that means the price isn't right or it looks bad in the pictures.

Remember the Easter weekend has just been though so maybe it will pick up by the end of the week.

IkickedtheBigC · 24/04/2019 11:51

We had 3 viewings the day we went on the market. It was almost a full time job juggling the stream of prospective buyers. All in all, we had 56 in 8 weeks. (DH kept a spreadsheet as many viewers had very similar names and so we noted something about each viewing ie- family of 8, never came off his phone, brought sister/brother /grandparents etc.

56 views in 8 weeks?!

It's definitely the latter. Possibly even the former....

We now have 3 viewings.

@IkickedtheBigC (amazing username) how many offers did you get from those 56?

Properties with a tenant inside them do tend to look scruffy. Suggest you remove it off the market if the viewing doesn’t pan out, have a clean up/ redecorate after the tenant moves out, then put it back on.

IkickedtheBigC · 24/04/2019 18:31

We got 4 when we were selling, but in the end part exchanged for a brand new house. We continued to show people round the house but all offers went straight to our builder x

ReginaGeorgeous · 24/04/2019 18:50

It's still school holidays here, a lot of people are away.

SuziQ10 · 24/04/2019 18:56

Sounds normal to me.

Our house was on the market for two months before getting an offer (October 2018). Actually two offers at once pretty much! And we went with the higher.

We had approximately 10 or 11 sets of people come to view within that time. It wasn't loads. And then some of them repeated and came back to view again with parents / partner etc. So don't be disheartened yet Smile

Are they with the Countrywide network? Not many are.

lyralalala · 24/04/2019 20:26

Easter holidays and the weather won't have helped as people have been out enjoying the sun.

HogMother · 24/04/2019 20:30

56 views in 8 weeks, is 55 people who didn’t buy it (no offence). You only need the one right person.
The market is different in different towns. Has anyone asked you to post a link to rightmove yet? I love a rightmove link... please?

AndOutComeTheBoobs · 24/04/2019 21:29

@Langrish, no they aren't. What difference would it make if they were?
I've never sold a house before so this is all new stuff I'm starting to learn.

@HogMother, I really want to post it in case a MNer would like to buy it Grin
But alas, something feels very wrong about posting it on here so I will refrain.
