Period pain down to my knees - how is that even possible?!

Hi all,

As per the title, and I'm sorry if _Chat isn't the right place for this but I've literally got period pain across my lower abdomen, in my hips, thighs and down to my knees. I've never had it this bad before (maybe once as a teenager) so what's going on?!

I used to get my period pain in my legs. Nowhere else. I don't really get period pain anymore. But if I do it's in my legs. But I don't think there's anything wrong with me (that I know of!)

I get this and I suspect in my case it's fluid retention or some such.

I used to get this every month.. thank heaven I'm post menopausal. Co codamol took a bit of the edge off it, but it meant a day off work every month.. my manager didn't think I was skiving, because apparently I was pale green...
After years of dreadful menses, I had some reasonable births and an unobtrusive menopause, though. Swings, roundabouts..

Thanks for all your replies and I'm sorry to hear so many of you have been through this too!

Still no sign of things starting and I'm 2 days late...

Ugh its crap isn't it, I've got a sore back, cramps, my hips hurt, I've got aches down the front of my legs to just above the knees, I've been shaking all day and I've had to spend the day at work pretending that I've not got shit for brains and that I'm vaguely competent when I actually want to crawl under the duvet and dribble. And to top it all off I'm bloated as anything and I've got a massive spot on my chin. Biscuit hope it goes away soon OP

I get this too but only in the 8 years since having ds, periods also much much heavier Sad I also get it before any bleeding. It sucks!

Oh yes, that's been the case for me since my teens. I don't get it every month any longer, but if I have bad period pains, they are abdominal cramps and thigh pains. Never felt the pain in my back, the way some women do.
No issues, regular exams, one child.

Adenomyosis and fibroids for me. I was advised by gynae to stop ibuprofen and on controlled meds to make it manageable. I would ask for a referral.
