Chub-rub; Which cotton based cycle-shorts?

Can anyone recommend sensibly priced, cotton based above the knee length 'cycle' shorts that could be used as undies to prevent chub-rub?

I don't really want to spend £16 odd per pair!

like these.

I am a 16-18.

I buy cheap ones from eBay and just wear regular knickers underneath. They're £2 or £3.

I have a pair of these Miljah - and they are definitely worth the investment. Ive not tried cycling shorts - but these feel like you're not even wearing anything!

I still wear regular knickers underneath tho.

Cheap pair leggings from primark just cut them a bit shorter

I have jockey skimmies. They are £££ but they dry so fast that 2 pairs are enough. I have the longer length and they great. I know they’re not cotton, which horrified me at first, but they’re not sweaty, they’re seam free and they do not move at all. Much more comfortable that going without.

bonzo77 · 15/05/2019 14:08

*THAN going without ffs.

I wear Sloggi Basic Longs, which aren't cheap, but last and wash well. A very light cotton jersey so not too warm. I tried Ebay cycle shorts and they were heavier and warmer, so I felt like I was wearing thermals on a sunny day.

I didn't like the Evans 'Comfort Shorts' - they were made of a tights material and just felt sticky.

I had some from Simply Be - they were ok. A bit like these www.simplybe.co.uk/shop/naturally-close-2-pack-cotton-rich-long-leg-blackskin-comfort-shorts/yh168/product/details/show.action?pdBoUid=9063#colour:Black/Natural,size:

I have the ones you've linked to, OP. They are amazing! Really light and stretchy, feels cool like you're not wearing any. This is my fourth summer wearing them and they still look new, no fraying or wear any tear. I used to resort to wearing cycling shorts or short leggings underneath dresses but honestly, these are so much better and well worth the money. I'm a size 18 now and 16-18 fit well. I was a size 20-22 before and 16-18 still fitted well as they are so stretchy.

I wear pants under them so I only have the one pair and wash every third wear or so. You could wear them without pants if you didn't mind washing every time.

FloatingthroughSpace · 15/05/2019 16:39

I have those ones too, and wear undies under. They are quite hot, tbh, but effective.

Primark do shorts made out of the same material as their legging in the summer, £2 a pair and fab

I have the big bloomers ones and we’ll worth the money or bandelettes which are stretchy bands you put round your thighs. As long as you measure right the bandelettes will not move.
