Washing yourself at the sink - how not to get water everywhere?

Regular user who has named changed, as I feel a bit embarrassed to ask - how do you wash yourself at the sink without getting water everywhere? I'm asking because I'm trying to save water - maybe to alternate showering and sink washing so I have a full shower every other day. Washing face is obviously ok, but washing armpits and privates I just seem to make such a mess with water when rinsing. Thanks.

Don't you need loads of flannels for a strip wash?
I wouldn't want to use the same one for my face, pits, bits and the rest of me.
Showers are much easier to just use hands.

Thanks all for your advice. I like the idea of turning the shower off whilst washing then turning it back on to rinse, think this will save water and faffing. Thanks again Smile

I have a broken knee I have become the strip wash queen! 2 flannels one for face and rest of body, one for private's. I also find sitting on toilet easier but that might be the knee.

How much do you pay for water in a country that constantly rains?

I would still just have a quick shower every day.

Those who suggest taking a shower or a "small bath": many are like me who live in properties with only a bath where the hot water comes from an electric immersion heater. To heat up the tank costs quite a lot of money, an amount set to increase substantially over the next few months here in the UK. So a sink wash is not just an alternative but the only way to wash, using a kettleful of hot water.
