I wonder if any of you have tried this & could give experiences of...

How long it lasted for ?
At what point after having it did you feel optimal effects ?
Was it painful ?
Any side effects?

We're considering it for my daughter ahead of her GCSEs. She was initially enthusiastic, but now we're getting close to the exams, she's having second thoughts & is anxious it won't help & will be painful & have bad side effects etc.

She had a list of health problems & has had several bad experiences with blood tests, but no previous problems with IV. She's had bad reactions to medications, but tolerated her vitamins & B12 injections well & they help a lot.

I'd do it myself first as a guinea pig, but can't afford it for us both

We are hoping this could give her a lift mentally & physically to get her through her GCSEs

TIA💐

Also, what do you want from it? There's no miracle cure, and it's not some fast track to gcse greatness / an amazing future. Give the kid a break.

ODFOD & Nethunx you clearly can't read or is that comprehend 🙄

For clarification, I asked questions relating to how/when would be best to time this infusion so that she gets peak benefits in time for her exams & reassurance that it doesn't really hurt

That's all 🤷🏽‍♀️

OP you said she's anxious about the infusion and she's worried it will hurt. Don't you think maybe you're adding to her overall stress with this then? It just seems a bit rubbish for her to be flapping over something that's unlikely to benefit her anyway.

Anyway good luck to her with her exams. I hope she does well.

RockinHippy · 23/04/2019 13:22

For example & Prequel DD was turned down fir a B6 test. GP checked in front of me if she could organise it after it was turned down at the hospital & she showed me the screen saying not available.

Our GP is great & tries to help where she can, but is honest where she can't. She herself wasn't happy that she was advising highest dose B6 supplements, but couldn't check levels even on a vitamin you can overdose on.

Prequel, where as I do agree with a lot of what you say as in its money wasted for a healthy person with a good diet. DD is exactly in the Category that will benefit from this infusion

& no, she's not worrying anymore about the IV than she does her regular B12 injections. Her biggest worry right now is being well enough to cope with her exams/not being ill on the days of exams & not falling asleep

RockinHippy Never had this IV so can't help with that but regarding where the GP is stuck, you can get private blood tests to do at home for the things the NHS won't look at. I use a company called Thriva.

Does DD have specific symptoms she was hoping to relieve with this IV?

RockinHippy · 23/04/2019 13:36

Thanks Lello. We've had to do that on route to her B12 deficiency diagnosis.

I've looked at the comprehensive nutritional tests & they cost a fortune. More than the Myers IV & I'd rather put the money into something that might help her exhaustion, low immunity, brain fog & chronic pain than have things diagnosed that the NHS won't deal with anyway. Trust me after the fight we've had this far you would understand that stance.

Totally understand, after looking into b12 stuff for myself I've seen what a nightmare people have getting treated properly. How often does she get her jabs?

Chronic pain I know nothing about, but the exhaustion & brain fog sound B12 related, or possibly folate or vit D, which are all related - has she had all these tested recently?

RockinHippy · 23/04/2019 14:01

Yes, sadly it's a nightmare fir too many. My DB has a stroke thanks to his doctors ignoring his tests results as not urgent as "it's only a vitamin" 🙄

She's on all of those already & more. They do definitely help, which is why I'm hopeful this IV could give her an extra boost as it bypasses her gut

OP posts:
RockinHippy · 23/04/2019 14:02

Oops, her Jabs are monthly, but you see the decline in her after approximately a week 😢

Lellochip · 23/04/2019 14:23

If it sounds like you can definitely tie her symptoms in with her b12 schedule I wonder if she'd get more benefit from private b12 jabs than the iv?

I don't think it would do her any harm whatsoever, but just as you said money was an issue, think you could get at least 5 or 6 jabs for the same price. From my very limited vitamin knowledge gleaned from Dr Google, I'd think the B12 is the important ingredient in that cocktail anyway?

There is also the option of self-injecting, lots of people resort to that if the NHS won't give them often enough.

RockinHippy · 23/04/2019 14:39

Thanks Lello, yes after exhausting all avenues to get more frequent from NHS, we do SI though it's something she worries about. She would never make it to school most of the month if we didn't (she missed 2 years or treatment)

It's the combination of the stuff in these vitamin cocktails that interest us, vit C plus it's methyl B12 in particular which is more expensive, but our cousin in oz is on this & it's way better for her than our hydro B12 is, so I'd like to try it too

Sorry lost some text there 😐 should have read... "she missed 2 years of school before starting treatment"
