WTF is with Easter presents

So in my area there's a tone of kids from like newborns to 17-18 getting full living rooms full of presents for Easter.
I'm not talking a few books and some chocolate one kid got a IPhone X another got a massive 4K tv and both got like £300 worth of other stuff. That's insane at Christmas but at Easter.

As a kid this would not have happened at Easter. We got an Easter egg granted it was one of the bigger ones but that was it unless you count the eggs we got to roll as a present (they were the cheapest eggs out there for that).
I think this insane but what's everyone else's opinion. Should Christmas and Easter be the same presents wise.
Hope everyone had a nice relaxing Easter yesterday and hope your enjoying your days off if you have a few

I know what you mean OP.

A book, dvd or outfit is ok but expensive gifts like iphones is a bit much. This could explain why my local supermarket had hundreds of eggs left over today. People have replaced eggs with other things.

Parents who do this might think they're doing the best for their children but when those children grow up they're going to get a shock to learn they can't have the very best and latest thing immediately. What happens is either they feel inadequate and not good enough because they can't afford tons of stuff when they first start working or, and this is what I've seen happen, their parents continue to buy them ££££ worth if stuff, pay house deposits for them, but then clothes etc right into their dc's 30s. These aren't rich people either.

That's what is meant when people say it's spoiling them. It develops unrealistic expectations. I think a cuddly rabbit toy and a chocolate egg is nice. The colouring books and activity sets I've seen look like a good thing to get to help fill some half term time. But piles of expensive stuff isn't doing anyone any good imo.

I do not think that Christmas and Easter should be the same, presents or any other part of the celebration. Sounds an excuse for more conspicuous consumption.
