London Marathon - quieter spectator area

I am fairly heavily pregnant but toying with the idea of surprising my husband as he runs the marathon next week. Can anyone recommend a quieter spectator area (if that's even realistic) as i am concerned about getting bumped.

Or should I just watch on TV?

I can't remember off the top of my head - about 18, 19? Have you got the route map?

Actually between 16 and 17.

Wapping is a great vantage point, as you can see people running down to the isle of dogs and then back again - both along the main road. Fairly quiet, and a number of pubs set off the main road for watering. It is completely shut off by the marathon however, so the only way to get into it is the tube.

Bermondsey tube - I went there while pregnant and was in a non crowded area very close to coming out the station. Added bonus that you don’t have to walk further than couple hundred meters from the station.
It’s a fairly boring setting!
When I’ve gone anywhere near wapping it’s been packed.
Other suggestion would be cutty dark dlr and walk down towards Depford. Within 10 mins walk of cutty sark the pavements will likely not be busy.

Thanks @palahvah. I haven't spent much time in London so really had no idea where to start. I've had a look and think that's about perfect. Ive been looking at the River Bus to get me there and back.

All i need to plan now is my mini picnic for the day!

Bermondsey looks good too. The charity have a cheer point there too.

Marathon day is a great atmosphere - public transport will be busy but the bump will help!
