Neighbours making hell of a noise in their back garden.

Im just wondering at what point this becomes anti social? I don't generally mind neighbours making a noise in their garden when the weather is good, but it's half ten at night and all I can hear is them talking so loudly interjected with loud shrieking laughter. It's too warm to shut the window, not that I think it would make much difference. They did it last summer several times come to think of it.

Why does anyone need to talk that loud? Furthermore why the shrieking? These aren't young people either, seriously grow the fuck up!

They are otherwise decent neighbours so I'd never ever say anything, and I know it being a bank holiday I have to cut some slack, but it just seems so inconsiderate. Is it inconsiderate?

So much shrieking. They sound fucking deranged.

Yes it's inconsiderate! Could you really not ask them to be a bit quieter, if you're on good terms with them? I think maybe people don't realise that the sound of loud conversation and laughter carries a long way. The other night I called out to two men who'd been talking loudly right outside our house for ten minutes, I just said "could you keep it down a bit, please", they moved off soon after.

Bang your windows shut if your not going to ask them to shh

Why should I have to shut my window on a hot night though? I also think surely it's common sense that nojse travels when it's quieter I.e at night.

How well do you know them? If you are on speaking terms a polite knock on the door to ask them to tone it down gone past 11pm is reasonable.

Omg, lovely warm weather & a bank holiday -! How dare your neighbours enjoy their garden!!!!!

WobbleTime · 21/04/2019 23:24

Are you my neighbour OP? (I’m not one of the shrieking ones, I’m in bed, window open as it’s so hot in my bedroom, listening to music and shrieking in someone’s garden nearby).
It’s annoying but it’s a bank holiday and I don’t have to be up early. Hope they shut up soon!

WillGymForPizza · 21/04/2019 23:24

I doubt they'd hear the door they're in the back, and im not even dressed anyway lol. I wouldn't mind a bit of chatter, it's the loud shrieking that's doing my head in.

It’s past 11pm RainbowMum, we’re all entitled to some peace in the evenings regardless of the weather or what day it is.

WillGymForPizza · 21/04/2019 23:27

Where did I say they couldn't enjoy their garden Rainbow? Bare in mind that it's nearly midnight and they've had all day to enjoy it...

Wobble no music, thankfully. Just loud raucous laughter and shrieking like banshees.

I do think past a certain time (I would say 9pm) there needs to be some discretion.

By all means sit and chat quietly in the garden but the shrieking is a no no.

I must admit out neighbours had a loud raucous bbq this afternoon and it got to 7pm and I was a bit wary as DC were due for bed and there had been loads of shrieking and shouting but in huge fairness to then by 7.15 they had gone in and whilst the party was obviously continuing in the house they were incredibly decent about the noise levels.

Actually made me have a lot of respect for them . So yanbu, of course people should enjoy their garden but to be self involved enough to disturb others says a lot about them.

However we live in a very family orientated area so I don't know if that makes a difference.
