If you live in or around Worthing, would you recommend it as a place to live?

Having lived in London all my life I've had enough! I have two sisters living happily in Worthing so it seems as good a place as any to move to.

Would you recommend it? I have two ds, 13 and 10 years old. Is it a good place for teenagers? Easy to make friends? Things to do? Decent secondary schools?

Tia

Been there a few times, the beach is lovely in the summer, much nicer than Brighton. There is an arts centre.

There is a problem with street drinking (alcoholics), like many sleepy seaside towns. The drug problem happens on the streets (rather than "behind closed doors" like Horsham) (a Police Officer told me that).

I'm sure other posters can give you a more fuller picture!

Thanks wiggles. Anyone else?

Road links are dire. The A27 from Lancing to beyond Chichester (Worthing is mid way) is the road from hell!

Not really. It's not an exciting town, the beach is nice but not much else. It's not horrible, just not great, and traffic is ALWAYS awful. I live in the area and have resisted moving to worthing even though there is more choice of housing than where I live.

How about Goring? Or Hove?

We moved to worthing when my dd was 5. We are extremely happy here. my daughter has always attended clubs and enjoys the leisure centres and swimming pool. I feel safe her going to town with her friends and she is doing really well at the local all girls school.
Yes there is a bit of the street drinking culture and sadly homelessness but no worse than anywhere else to be honest and the town is small enough for a nice community vibe. Lots of nice parks and shops although i will say i feel the town centre is lacking but only a short train ride to brighton. my husband works in brighton only takes him 40m in the car yes the roads are a nightmare in rush hour and the train crossings drive us crazy at times but all in all im a fan of worthing!

That sounds good name. I'm not overly concerned about drunks/homelessness, we obviously have these problems in London too! And traffic....

Any more experiences??
